I did not post a thread up when I went through this but know if I had and if someone recommended to me to clean and lube real good, I would have told them to go F themselves.

I am assuming there is a significant difference in the weight of the slides? Timing issue. Fiddling with spring weights may correct it.
Only difference on the slide is the top window cut and some front serrations, but that weight would be offset by the added RMR so the slide should actually be with rmr the same weight +/- some.
But the "tuned" spring should have helped with that but no go.
Could you weigh them? I'd be interested to see what if any difference there is.
Other than weight change altering the timing of the cycle the only other thing it could be is an issue of geometry ofnthe new slide. Which would be bad, can't really fix that.
On the other hand it may be the addition of red dot itself. Even on a Glock its not unknown for the extra mass to cause an issue. I think you just have some tuning to do.
See but it's the same slide, as before, but I'm going to try the hella cleaning like @71velle suggested. From there I will be having to fiddle around and tune
So the porting is to offset the weight of the optic then?
The top of the slide has a window cut out on the top of the slide
So I was going to follow @71velle 's advice and try giving the slide a super deep clean, completely strip it down and everything.
Then I remembered there is a brand new shop that just opened up locally, they mostly do custom laser engraving and a few other things including kydex and what not, nothing that I personally needed at this point to warrant stopping in (as much as I wanted to, but they are still even putting the store front together, that's how new they are)
Well they just recently got qualified as a glock armorer and so I decided you know what it may cost me a few bucks to do something I can easily do but why not support a new local business that is also a 2A business.
Stopped in there today talked to the owner, real nice guy, brought him the NYland Special along with the stock (chopped) OEM frame and we went over what has been done on the slide and barrel, and what each frame has ie stock frame vs few things on the other frame.
He is going to keep it a few days do a complete armorer cleaning and inspection, said his other gun Smith comes in tomorrow they are going to look everything over bounce some ideas as well then function test and see if they can get it running.
So hopefully in a few days I'll know 1 what was wrong 2 it is fixed and 3 have my blaster back all while supporting local small business

That's too bad that porting isnt drop in and play option. It sucks we can't have traditional compensators.
While I am not delusion or what not and do understand that the porting may be the issue, I feel it might not actually be the problem, but that is me being an optimist, but will of course update when I hear anything
It very well could boil down to a spring issue. It's always hard to figure out things like this with a modified firearm.
I'm hoping or the cleaning fixes it, but it could sadly also be the porting and I need a new barrel, it all is what it is and hopefully I can update everyone soon

Take off the dot and try it.
It will be interesting to hear what they will charge you. The only gunsmiths I know around me charge a good bit for anything, I would be afraid to take them an unknown. It would be awesome if you end up with a reasonable local gunsmith.
He has a point if a screw is a tad long on the mounting it could interfere with the cycling. I have read about them completely locking up the gun.
The main issue is that it almost feels gritty and binding on the rails more than anything with the dot, but that would be the next step

I'm not excited about that part either but if they figure it out and get my gun running and the price is extremely high well then I payed the price but have a running gun, if the price is reasonable I'll pass on their name to whoever and know I have someone to go to for the future if I come across actual gunsmith needs
I am fortunate to have convenient access to a range so its easy to tinker with a problem. If range time is limited it might be well worth while to pay to get it up and going so you can enjoy it.
So I know the porting and the dot seem to be a common thought for the issue (not saying they are not) I even sta6ted thinkin maybe I had to have a stupid death grip to compensate and therefore always limp existing, idk just spitballing my thoughts but I did just see Mod-K post up a video on the Instagram and FB of a stock g17 with the flat pack (what I have on my 19) and them shooting it 1 handed which tells me that a normal grip should be just fine...
