Permit to purchase, not permit to posses. Anything owned prior to the enacted date has no paperwork attached to it.
The rushed, newly written laws will be so bad and filled with so many errors it will be unreal. Just like the last legislation they passed on guns in the middle of the night. Will the Brinks truck driver be committing a felony when he enters the bank armed for a pickup? You bet he will. These people have zero knowledge of what they are doing and are certainly not going to be thinking of exemptions.

You are correct, but there is discussion in Albany this week about needing to show a permit, either pistol permit or semi-auto rifle permit to purchase pistol caliber or semi-auto ammunition. They are assholes.

I was being facetious, like so many of us here. Albany (and politicians in general) has never had an original idea. They just continue to fear monger the 'sheeple' and try to make them feel 'safe'. No thank you. I prefer to take responsibility for my famiy and all things important to me!!!

Well there is a new standard for how the lower courts have to rule on 2A cases now, so it doesn't necessarily have to make its way back up to SCOTUS.

It's a good thing that I have a NRA Qualification certificate for live fire from out of state. The cost in NYS is insane at >$200 for the same course. It cost me all of $65 and 2 boxes of ammo with good instructors and an orientation class included. Took the class at a NRA-certified friendly range in the sticks on an 'open admission' day.
As far as the sensitive areas go, that reminds me once when I visited an establishment in a rough area many years ago where they did weapons checks at the door. If you did not have one, they issued you one!

Based on the ruling of the Supreme Court most, if not all, of these new vindictive declarations are unConstitutional.
Until such time as these are ruled as Constitutional I am ignoring them.
If heil hochul wants to act like a petulant child that's her prerogative, but I am not required to abide by it anymore.

The new rules by the queen bitch will directly hamper women and minorities from applying for a CCW. People need access to a range to practice and there are not many within the cities. Forever as a part of the permit procedure I always though basic live fire should have been included, ironically it was prohibited under the previous NY CCW application rules.

Also, because of the new permit to buy semi-auto's, will this mean background checks for 5.56 ammo? I find ammo online for less than half the price of the cost in stores around me -- if I can even find it locally, many local stores these days never have much (if any) in stock.

Same here, Instead of getting some stuff done early this morning. I spent the time talking to the wife about speeding up our 2 year timeline to move out of NY.
My house is my home, I'm very happy where I have worked for the last 22 years. My friends are awesome peeps. And my wife's family are great people. With all of that being said.
We have to get the fuck out of NY regardless and I don't want to wait 2 more years.

Not as long as upstate is connected to NYC.
It's not running either. It's searching for a better quality of life and it IS out there.
There are many more things in NY that are unacceptable than just the 2A issue.

I'm willing to throw it all away, take a huge risk to pursue happiness and start over.
NY is making this intolerable to live in this far left authoritarian state that has politically gone off the rails.
It will NEVER be ok as long as NYC is a part of NY state. There's no un-doing this or voting our way out. It's never going to happen.
I do NOT want my kids to get too old and put roots down here in this state and get established. And that means uprooting them in the near future and wrecking their social lives to save them now. And that sucks but in the long run it's so worth it.

What about all of the "this disproportionately affects people of color" talking points? What about the lower income people that won't be able to afford the training classes? They can't exercise their natural rights? So we cant have ID to vote because of the burden it will put on people but we can have all this for a gun permit?
This is what makes me so sick. How the 2A is treated so different that any other rights. If they were al least consistent I could live with it. But the way they treat the 2A infuriates me. Where are the politicians screaming on TV that our democracy is under attack? That gun owners are being suppressed? Free and fair concealed carry? Hello?? The politicians on both sides are all rats.
