When did the unsolved murder rates go up recently? When police stopped enforcing the small stuff too. The same happened in the 1960s until the early 90s where the thought was let police concentrate on the big stuff. It has never worked. It’s enforcement of the small stuff that has led to solving crimes. Come on. We can name the famous cases . A parking ticket caught the Son of Sam. A taillight was Joel Ritkin, the Long Island serial killer. Someone picked up on something minor rats out the information that leads to the killer or other major criminal. Or that minor arrest comes back to haunt them. That happened to Pablo Escobar. It happens to a lot of the killers . How do think their fingerprints get into the system in the first place? And if their prints arent in the system yet, when the fingerprints from that minor arrest gets in the system , it will be compared to the prints from a murder scene.. Small stuff leads to the bigger stuff.
The reason why unsolved murders are now high is that police aren’t enforcing small stuff the way they used to just a few years ago.

Go to NYC as an example. Their homicide rate was over 2000 and it was dropped to under 500. How? They started to enforce the small things. Crime is up because their woke DAs no longer prosecute the small things like petit larceny or even having summons warrants.

I go to NY, I go to PA. In NY I have (had, I guess) an unrestricted. Same for PA. Day to day life in either state is (until September) the same as anywhere else.

Yes, many states have renewals. I have almost a dozen licenses and they all renew. Virginia needs fingerprinting every 5 years. New Hampshire needs $100. Utah needs an all-day class upon first application. Some are mail-order, some you have to drive there. When I was on Long Island, I drove to PA every 5 years.

Even in Vermont, which has been Constitutional Carry since before there was a Constitution has some restricted areas and pretty much always had.

I am never happy to see police car or officer. Sherrifs Deputies I feel indifferent about. I view state troopers as the KGB or Gestapo.

Sherrifs seem to have a balance between protect and server and revenue generation.

The answer is what are the other factors in the fact pattern. What if the person stopped was traveling at 2 in the morning when gun ranges are closed and they don’t present a permit?
It’s not a simple yes or no.

Sued in getting warrant? Or sued in getting an arrest off it? Big difference.
. Cops do get sued if they make mistakes on search and seizure if their actions aren’t reasonable.
Is it reasonable to believe that a gun box has a gun in it? . Not only reasonable but it’s more probable than not. This is as opposed to just a locked metal box. Big difference in the fact pattern. HUGE.
If someone saw a closed box labeled explosives, they aren’t supposed to treat it as if there were explosives in the box?

You know if there is a locked Springfield XD box in the car that it’s more probable than not that there is a gun in the lock than not. The real problem you are having is you feel the police shouldn’t be looking for the gun rather the truth of the situation that there is a high probability of a gun in that box.
