The whole idea of a carrying concealed, is that no one should know you are carrying...........like James Bond, until someone tries the knockout game on you. Oops.

Gov. Herr Botox Hochul, imho, has already circumvented the SC decision with the new batch of laws she signed. In particular, #s4970a which establishes a long gun registry and #A10503 which adds to that with the licensure requirements for 21 yo for semi auto rifles. I cannot read thru the whole bunch cause I am afraid I will stroke out I get so angry.

Her response to SC decision ("shocked") smells of sedition.

I've been thinking about this for a couple days, and this is what I believe NY will do:

Mind you, this is just speculation on my part, but it comes with knowledge of how Albany and tyrants impose their will on their subjects.

The legislature will propose a law that moves the pistol licensing authority to the NYSP, taking the issuing authority away from (in most cases) the County Sheriff. This will allow for one standard, not one for each county. It will also transfer all records to one central database which, in all reality has already been established through NYSAFE and it's recirtification scheme. Then the legislature will decree that all permits issued will now have a 5 year (or shorter) lifespan, and that they must be renewed on time or your firearms will be confiscated. This will not only apply to handguns, but to all guns. Remember that bit in NYSAFE where it says that if you become ineligible to posess your pistols, then you are no longer eligible to posess long guns ? Well, this is the fruit of that. There will now be a fee attached to the renewal of your permit. Amendment fees will be increased as well. They will mandate a minimum amount of certified training in order to keep your permit, in the form of X hours per the lifespan of the permit. Permits issued outside of NYC will still be invalid in the city.

The new semi-automatic purchasing scheme will be fully incorporated with the pistol permit, but will in itself be a seperate permit with it's own set of fees. The database will be fully crossreferenced, as will the duration of each permit. Let one permit lapse, and the other will be forfeited automatically. Any firearm purchased under the semi-auto permit will be recorded the same as a handgun. Make, model, serial number, caliber, etc.

Make no mistake, there will be NO letters sent to you as a reminder that a permit will expire on a given date. It will be completely your responsibility to remember when your permit(s) expire and to renew them on time.

The NYSP will finally set up the ammunition purchase database that was set forth in NYSAFE. They will also initiate a FOID card which will need to be shown to the store at time of purchase. They will record every ammunition purchase, and any bulk purchases, or any person purchasing "too much" ammunition over time will be flagged as suspicious and therefore watched with higher scrutiny. It is possible that the caliber of ammunition you purchase may be checked against the databases to match what you are purchasing against what you own. That would allow them to potentially spot someone buying ammunition for a prohibited person. [ I don't think the matching ammo to what you own will be part of the launch of the system, but will be added on eventually. ]

In order to make an amendment to your license, there will be one location per county that you will have to go to. The designated NYSP office of each county will allow ( by appointment only, of course ) you to submit amendments, and will be so backed up with processing that you will wait at least 60 days to get the approval to do the transfer. This is by design.

Lastly, any long gun transfered under any condition will have to be done through a FFL and those records will be sent to NYSP as well. All this combined will eventually establish a complete gun registry for the State. The only guns not listed in it will be the ones that the criminals have and use.

I hope I'm completely wrong on all counts. I doubt that I am.

Possible agenda items for the upcoming special session:

“… Hochul said Friday she would like to see the state pass specific gun-free zones — schools, places of worship and events over a certain size, and that private places be gun-free unless they note otherwise. She’d like to see further requirements for the storage of a firearm, like in a vehicle, as well as additional permitting requirements, such as increased training prior to being eligible for a permit …”

“Nassau Legislator Josh Lafazan, who is running for Congress, is calling for new measures to ban the concealed carry of handguns on all county properties. This new measure includes parks and beaches, NICE buses, and the campus of Nassau Community College … Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone also announced Saturday a plan he says will strengthen Suffolk’s red flag laws … Bellone wants the state to expand the scope of the state’s red flag law, increase education and increase monitoring on social media.”

When the government views itself as superior and citizebs as a subjects, then they think of those as their houses of worship, and they can do what they want with them.

After the lower court establishes the SCOTUS rules, several things need to be clarified.

First, why is a permit for home possession still required by NYS?

Second, why do 4 persons (non felons) still have to sign the application, even for home permit? This is racial discrimination.

Third, as restrictions have been dropped why would a person even apply for a premise permit anyway....shall issue is here.

Fourth, the ability to walk into a gunshop and simply buy a pistol with NICS check, as ruled on in the SCOTUS ruling..is not recognized....a permit is for Concealed Carry only...................not for simple legal purchase and home possession.

Yes, and she knows that.
Do you remember when Cuomo was talking about the not being able to ban weapons in "common use" when they banned "assault weapons".
He smiled and said, " sue me".
NYS CAN and WILL make as many hurdles, limitations, and requirements as they can. These will all have to be taken through the court process which can take years.
As ive mentioned several times here, in the opinions they also said there is no change to the "sensitive areas" part of the law.
Thomas eluding to, or suggesting does NOT make it so.
It will have to be taken through the courts.
Also, he only mentioned a few "areas" as being off limits to banning.
Hochul said she has had her "legal team" on this for months for work arounds.
Those work arounds WILL be enacted and WILL be enforced.
And not just in NYC, but the whole state.
This will affect those of us in the 2a friendly counties even more than most. We will be going backwards when they make new rules.
This is far from over.......in my opinion. :)

It won't be over until 2A groups stop treating gun rights as a partisan election issue and Democrats see them as part of their constituency.

Tomorrow is primary election day. Is anyone trying to hold incumbents who screwed us accountable? No. Therefore there will be more gun control.

If the SCOTUS decision forbids banning in regular places such as these, which I believe it does to my understanding(?) from Thomas's wording, then such a policy will be invalid, and anyone enforcing such a policy is invalid in their authority -- as proclaimed by the highest court of the United States of America. That's my take on it. You can't just make up unconstitutional bullshit and proclaim it as law. The constitution is the law. The constitution is the will of the people.

That's not to say it won't be enforced. However, if it is enforced then those who created and enforced such a policy should be prosecuted, tried, and punished if regime change ever happens and we get another AG (since everyone deserves their day in court.)
