I like all this speculation, but who is going to call their PP office and ask them if they will be taking restrictions off people's licenses if they ask due to the SCOTUS decision?

Here's the thing, IIRC this ruling affects only 7 out of the 50 states.
That's not a dark day in America. That's 7 city states finally getting their dicks slapped.

Edit for clarity - The 7 city states that have the for good cause requirement.

But the old rule applies, if you SAY it, then the weak minded and Jellyfish backbone believe it!

BIG change, from MAY issue, to SHALL issue... It's just that they don't want anyone to think there is!

But they'll make changes, on their own, they won't even bother to look at the other 43 States that operate within the confines of the Constitution by SHALl issuing CCW to it's resident citizens. NY is going to get creative and fail of course, but it will have to go through the courts again, and again...

The Department of Justice today released the following statement from spokeswoman Dena Iverson following the Supreme Court’s decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc., et al. v. Bruen, Superintendent of New York State Police, et al.:

“We respectfully disagree with the Court’s conclusion that the Second Amendment forbids New York’s reasonable requirement that individuals seeking to carry a concealed handgun must show that they need to do so for self-defense. The Department of Justice remains committed to saving innocent lives by enforcing and defending federal firearms laws, partnering with state, local and tribal authorities and using all legally available tools to tackle the epidemic of gun violence plaguing our communities.”

I am deeply disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Since 1911, the State of New York has required individuals who would like to carry a concealed weapon in public to show a need to do so for the purpose of self-defense and to acquire a license. More than a century later, the United States Supreme Court has chosen to strike down New York’s long-established authority to protect its citizens. This ruling contradicts both common sense and the Constitution, and should deeply trouble us all.
In the wake of the horrific attacks in Buffalo and Uvalde, as well as the daily acts of gun violence that do not make national headlines, we must do more as a society — not less — to protect our fellow Americans. NYC Council pushing to expand ‘sensitive locations’ after SCOTUS gun ruling​


The New York City Council plans to press state lawmakers to dramatically expand the state’s current list of “sensitive locations” where guns can be banned after a Supreme Court ruling Thursday left it as one of the few avenues available to restrict handguns in the Big Apple.

Council Speaker Adrienne Adams said she plans to pass a non-binding resolution that would call on Albany to ban guns from all government buildings, schools, hospitals, places of worship, parks, daycares and cemeteries and other facilities — and establish a 1,000 foot buffer around those places where guns would also be banned.

Additionally, she said she hoped state lawmakers would consider making population density alone criteria for establishing a ‘sensitive location,’ which would effectively ban the carrying of handguns in most of New York City.

The majority on the Supreme Court seemed to warn away from such an approach, but Adams said she was hopeful lawyers could craft a workaround.
But when asked if the goal of the buffer zones and density requirements would be to again effective ban widespread handgun ownership in the five boroughs, “an effective citywide gun ban blanket,” Adams says that it was.

Additionally, she said she hoped state lawmakers would consider making population density alone criteria for establishing a ‘sensitive location,’ which would effectively ban the carrying of handguns in most of New York City.

Broome Co will.... after dropping $200 on a class and whatever ammo will coat now. I still don't have $200 disposable. I still carry on restricted.

Oneida County's assistant pistol licensing officer says it removes the distinction between unrestricted and sporting licenses.


“If they sign off to give somebody a license, all licenses are unrestricted, full carry, carry-concealed licenses," says Oneida County’s Assistant Pistol Licensing Officer, Dan Sullivan.

In Oneida County, they're putting the application process on hold for at least a week or two, possibly until the end of July, pending guidance and clarification from the state. And they're asking you not to flood the pistol permit office with phone calls. They'll say they’ll share any information with you as soon as they get it.

I’m just making my point that nothing will change. Those who have licenses outside of the city will probably get upgraded instantly because they already put you through the ringer so they might as well not fight you on the upgrade.

What they really don’t want is guns in NYC, if they could have zero they’d be happy. They have hotshot Harvard attorneys coming up with the slew of laws they will write, which honestly might make it worse than it was for the guys who already had carry licenses. Now the spotlight is on the 2A community in NY. Big spotlight.

And they're asking you not to flood the pistol permit office with phone calls. They'll say they’ll share any information with you as soon as they get it.

That right there is unconstitutional. This should have NO bearing on granting (even restricted) licenses. They should be processing them regardless. Reminds me of ummmm..... COVID.

Shame on them!

All I can say is the true believers must sue if you meet any pushback whatsoever. It’s gonna be a long road and even longer unless the lawsuits start rolling in quickfast!
