One of the reasons that I have dogs and security cameras now is years ago someone attempted to burn my house down in the middle of the night. The attempt failed fortunately. I discovered that happened the next morning doing my morning routine.

The anti-cop sentiment is stronger in some areas than others. In redneck areas they tend not to mess with police unless it’s personal. In Portland, they burn down police stations . In the housing projects , they drop bricks from the roof on cops who haven’t had time to make personal enemies . A friend of mine was a victim of a brick . If it hit his head instead of his shoulder , he would be dead. Broke his shoulder. It was his first ever in that area. And it was in his first two weeks out of the academy.

I still get to carry with or without this new law. I’m for civilian carry and I don’t get the exemptions that active cops get anymore . I would love to get them back.
My only argument here was in general the threat to law enforcement is much greater than the general public. Then I explained that retired cops don’t get a lot of exceptions that a permit holder doesn’t . And why active cops get the school exemption .That’s it.

Ironically, when I go to the fair in the free state of PA , I obey the no firearm signs without a problem. Very little chance of running into that specific threat there. But I have in Disneyworld, go figure.

Id be curious about the actual statistics comparing off duty/retired LEOS being assaulted( generic term for any type of physical attack) compared to non LEOs.
I could imagine that off duty / retired LEOs could be targeted strictly because of they chosen profession but Id bet non LEOs are victimized in greater numbers per capita for random reasons. My point is that (just thinking here) off duty/retired LEOs may be targeted more than other professions, but average serfs are still attacked more frequently, which puts regular citizens in greater danger in general.
