Hmm take that back, the warrant was withdrawn. Seems the Rangers want to investigate further. This is routine, and as said early, happens often in civilian cases as well.

Note: this post is how one admits they are wrong, as opposed to just “yelling” louder until everyone else just gives up.

Let's face it, while sometimes a civilian might not be arrested at first in homicide situation, you can bet that had one done what this officer had done the civilian would be behind bars already. I do not think that is smearing law enforcement in general but instead is stating what someone believes as fact and that is seemingly seen quite often to be fact.

As for a warrant having been issued for officer Guyger's arrest, are you sure about that? I just queried her name and the word warrant and the most recent things I saw come up about an arrest was that an arrest was delayed because the Texas rangers requested that the police hold off on arresting her. I would think if a warrant had been issued for her arrest it would be all over the news. I also queried just her name and the most recent things that come up, posted 2 hours ago, are about a suspect she justifiably shot in 2017 or about then.

I corrected myself on the warrant. I had read yesterday that one had been issued, then read the article that Doc posted. I know it isn’t often that posters admit being wrong online, but scroll above and you can see that I did.

Good example of why I believe take home cars (marked at least) and wearing the uniform home are absolutely retarded.

Being that she was in uniform, there’s a 100% chance the department gets sued and loses, as opposed to if she was in civvies.

Only chance I see here is if there’s some facts that have him attacking her just for opening the door or whatever. That can happen without maliciousness. People make mistakes. If she attacked him seriously thinking it was her apartment, she’s screwed.

Her profession is the reason she has not been placed under arrest yet. You know it and so does everyone else. If an average joe shot a random person in their house they would be charged immediately.

Most cops go a career without shooting anyone. This crazy bitch has shot two people in two years. The first time she claimed someone was going for her taser. There were other officers there but she was the only one who shot. Hmmmm

Once an arrest is made, important parts of the investigation are effectively done due to legal protections. LEO employment almost always involves agreeing to being compelled to answer questions that civilians could refuse to answer. Once arrested, that requirement ends and all Constitutional and statute/precedent protections kick in.

There are other reasons that apply to EVERYONE which occasionally delay arrests. Known “perps” who are not flight risks are often not arrested immediately so that the case can be strengthened before presenting it due to specific time requirements that kick in after the arrest: arraignment, grand jury timeline, discovery, 180/80, ready/release, etc.

I deal with this every day, and never with cop perps.

The reality of day to day American criminal justice proceedings is much different than the media shows you, both intentionally and simply because most of it is mundane and routine.

Of course everything will be looked into thoroughly, but not to try to help the cop. No one wants to be the one accused of making a mistake on purpose in a case like this. If anything, the investigators work harder to dot every I and cross every T than they would otherwise.

Oh and I know nothing about Texas crime so how could I tell you the last time the Rangers did that?
