A second term unrestrained Trump is their worst nightmare. Many people fear trial for treason and the uncovering of their corruption. It has not-in fact cannot be proven where Mr. Cain contracted the virus as he traveled extensively during that week, including to areas where cases were spiking. While his passing is a great loss to his family , his community and his nation, Mr Cain chose to travel. He chose to attend events without a mask, and others were maskless. He was in a high risk category, of which he was well aware . One of his last acts was to publicly support President Trump's re-election, perhaps his dying wish.

This whole thing was a shit show of epic proportions. I'm not sure how this will change things if at all. Trump came across as an obnoxious bully but at least he made some valid points. Joe, when he spoke, came across as barely coherent. The whole thing is really sad that this is what this once great nation has descended to.

These debaters were always about nothing. Mud slinging and ideological jerk off. Nothing relevant to real world and real people. Trump didn't pretend to be anything he is not. Biden said he got into presidential race because of Charlottesville racist march. He didn't get into the race for power and wealth, he got into it because of racism. Every thinking person in America said to himself "Yeah, right", AND SO DID TRUMP. This is why Trump keeps winning. It's not hard to believe. Watch the movie idiocracy. This is a direct result and an inevitable outcome of a marginally educated populous being told they should express their political beliefs at the ballot box. It's no secret I think giving the vote to everybody is a destructive concept. And I mean that for republicans and democrats and independents. If you're profoundly ignorant, prone to partisanship, think the other time are inhuman (and I've seen some comments by some here alluding to that), you're part of the problem.

In other words: ask the average teenager if the government should support a new jobs program or if it should instead spend that money giving all the teens gift cards to the mall and new iphones.

Makes no sense, never inferred it did. The point is- this country, as a collective whole, may very well have picked the 2 biggest nimrods to play a game of “he said, she said” for the “most important job in the world”.

Yep. I recall Cheney smoking that dude who was running with Kerry (?) in debates back in 2004 or whenever the heck it was. Cheney came off as in control and a boss and the other guy a little dog nipping at his heels.

It's a real sin Pence isn't running for POTUS. He would have fared immensely better than Trump and I'm absolutely positive would have taken more swing voters along with him. I'm not sure Pence is savage enough to cut harris down as she could be, though.

Twitter is the only outlet to get the truth out. All media is against him and it is a non stop attack against him. They have created the need for him to tweet. No other president in history has been treated like he has.

I think were at the point where what is said - the literal content of the message - doesn't matter any more. Probably because we as a society have the attention span of a goldfish.

These debates are following the same pattern as political statements and speeches. It doesn't matter what you say. It doesn't matter if you tell the truth. It doesn't matter if you don't stay on topic. All that matters is that you convey the message -or sometimes just the feeling - that you want to get across.

Trump is a master of this. Its what he's been doing with tweets, press confrences and statements for the last 4 years.

If you stop looking at a presidential debate the way we did for Reagan-Mondale, Nixon-Kennedy, or Lincoln-Douglas and if you disregard everything that was said by everyone on the stage, you see that Trump was in charge up there. He was the alpha. For a minute there, he took the stage away from both Biden and the moderator. Biden didn't come across as strong or capable of being a leader even one time. He could barely manage to get angry when Trump said his kid got kicked out of the army because of his drug habit.

The days of an event like a presidential debate being a thoughtful exchange of ideas is over. We as a nation don't have the capacity to pay attention for that long. If the candidates don't get a return on their time investment, they're not going to play along.
