Oh, I know. Midway USA did a great AR build series, I think I can get through it. It will just be a PITA the first time through. All those freaking detents look brutal!Assembling an AR is easy. Watch a few YouTube videos and you can have a 14 year old walk you through it.
A lot of opinions on this one. Forged tends to have more tensile strength because of the hammering compressing the structure of the aluminum. Billet usually tends to look nicer because they can get more detail when cncing the whole thing. The only tangible flaw ive even heard of with forged lowers is that its not coming out of a uniform piece. Therefore it basically has a weld point and can break at that point. Typicaly though this takes high pressures and would ewually likely happen to a billet.Me neither. I have an upper i bought. LPK from years ago and two other lowers from when Mike (WTF was he name of his company? The old place...) sold his first batch. I have a forged and a billet.
Now where's google to figure out which is better?
I say go forged for function, its lighter and stronger, and billet if you want zazz.A lot of opinions on this one. I thought billet was lighter? Or is that just because theytend to take out more material.I say go forged for function, its lighter and stronger, and billet if you want zazz.
Forged will always be lighter for a given strength level, IF we are talking 7075. A billet receiver can be made lighter than a forged one but you are likely going to end up with less strength/rigidity. I doubt it makes all that much actual difference though. Forged looks milspec tough and billet can be made to look all race gun fancy. I think forged is also cheaper.I thought billet was lighter? Or is that just because theytend to take out more material.
Ok see this is what three days of no sleep will do to you.
Hey bg, do you do cerakoting? And if so hsow much would you charge to do it before i come get mine? Say i wanted to do a lower, upper and rail all in one color, 15 in rail.
I was afraid of starting that. But i figured at least a few other people would be interested.Whooooa hey whoa... Now if that's in play we are talking a whole nother ball game. I'd have to order a few more things from him!
Sorry. Think i jumped the gun on some premature decoration. Just thought I'd see howdeep into the rabbit hole I'm going with this.Wait. What? Paint talk? That means they're done, right?
Are they done yet? Are they done yet?

I was just gonna keep my mouth shut. Or i guess my keys unpressed. That could be taken out of context.
