Ordering from Buds Gun Shop

My LGS sells estate guns over the internet to obtain a higher price than selling it through his shop. Should I complain about the internet forcing me to pay a higher price for these guns because of the internet. ... NO... This is the way the world works these days. I can use the internet to get a lower price .... He is using it to get a higher price . This is the way the world works .. When Cuomo shut down the gun shops .. Firing Pin for example do you think they closed down the out of state internet sales ?... Record gun sales across the US.... Logic says they doubled down. using the internet

My retired FiL works part time in a shop in Michigan.

Prior to the panic buying, they made a good majority of their (used) gun sales online.

Of course now they have nearly no new inventory coming in and no one is selling them used guns so its all kind of a moot point...

It's a "reserved for" thing... Team Bud's items are only available for those who pay the $30... Generally, after 72 hours it goes up for sale for non-members. I didn't mind the $30... I mean it's not like $30 was going to break the bank. What I got for my $30 was some REALLY hard to find ammo at a decent price, in bulk quantities that made it worth it. Especially 5.56, .00 Buck, and 6.5 Grendel... Which all sold out before it ever even made it to non-member availability. This was a few months back though... Now EVERYTHING is dried up.

Absolutely. It's all personal choice. You're right. $30 or so per year don't break the bank. Take advantage of it, or don't. All depends on the volume you plan on doing.

Buds has 3 retail stores which I WILL visit when we move to KY.

Able's (TX) also usually has a decent selection and availability as well.

How would it compare to TSUSA Prime in terms of overall cost though (and convenience, doesn't Buds ship to FFL?) given that Prime includes free shipping for anything you order (when its in stock)?

Just curious, I have neither. Had considered Prime but don't see the point right now.

200%? Where to you get that number from? Have you been to some of the cheap internet ammo places lately. Ammo prices are crazy high at the moment so the LGS has to pay higher prices too and still has to make a profit to pay the bills. Just for some peoples information, ammo and guns are not given to the LGS to sell and paid for after they sell their product. In fact the LGS owns everything in the store as they have to pay up front to stock the shelves. On another note, when something is wrong with the firearm you purchase at Buds, Walmart etc. do they do anything to help you rectify the situation?

Just a fact about Buds. Buds sells at low prices because they buy from the same wholesalers a small gun shop get theirs only at a reduced price. They basically drop ship to a local shop and have no federal or state paperwork to do. Then when a person picks it up at a local shop many piss and moan about the transfer fee. People don't know how much time is involved doing paperwork for a "simple" transfer. It is much more than the time it takes to do a background check. When an LGS gets a firearm for transfer they must log it into their books, contact buyer, do the background check then log it back out of their books. In the case of a handgun there is also state paperwork that has to be done and sent to the state in a timely manner. Buds does nothing but the LGS takes all the grief and work when they charge for their time. To those who say that people will buy other items while picking up their firearm, that's a load of crap. They will hunt the internet and complain to the owner that they can get those items cheaper elsewhere. How do I know? I hear it daily. Many people appreciate what their LGS does for them but others have no problem bitching when all the shop owner is doing is trying to keep the doors open.

We had local LGS that had better prices than anyone online both firearms and ammo and when offering buying bulk (bulk ordered items) and negotiating a discount it was great.
I had a couple of LGS that were great, one I could save buying bulk and the other was just a tad more but got great advice and expertise
form employees who were armorers and/or actually practiced shooting sports.
Then we had other LGS that were some pieces of work or trying to take advantage and we are not talking about giving 2 or 3 dollars extra for a box of ammo but double. Also more expensive firearms. Then we had the places like dick heads and gadner, both a total joke. I heard those might be still in business,... who knew.

I had great experiences both ways. I personally hate anyone who treats customers like a number like cheaper than chit and buds but I know
others had good experiences with them at least until they had an issue. The thing is when you do this long enough the true nature of the business relationship comes very clear when you actually have a problem.

Never had a single problem with Midway and when they made a mistake they took responsibility.

So it is hard to generalize. I give a chance to everyone and see if I like it or not and try to support Local always but also if they try to
take advantage I don't come back.

That is the true essence of free commerce.

Another nice service they offer is they will remove high capacity mags so you can order whatever pistols you want. I didn't have to worry about this, but it's nice for a hard to find item and situations like that. I highly recommend them.

Most Local Gun Shops don't sell on the internet. Why? because you need staff to do the paperwork and do shipping. A small LGS are not in the position to staff full time people and in fact have a hard time keeping their shelves stocked.

Not sure why the gun community has such a hard time shipping stuff?? It's easier and cheaper than most people think. Most of the stuff on gunbroker is a total rip off on shipping. Not even talking about actual guns. Ebay, Amazon, etc figured out how to ship all this stuff for "free." Innovate or die.

I'm very surprised at the places that don't do it. Not bashing you, I just hate that if a gun doesn't come with 10 round mags, it essentially costs us nearly $100 more than it would most anyone else.

Agreed. They should discount the gun if they are keeping the mags because I’m 100% sure they resell them.
I do agree with Chev though that if you really want that gun it’s your decision to make.

I totally agree and I've done it a few times. Hated to, but that was the only way I could've gotten the gun. The one I really want now is listed as being offered with 10 rounders but I called the company and they don't even make 10 round magazines for the gun in question. Weird

As stated, it is a nice service for them to offer if they have a hard to find gun that you would normally be prohibited from buying.

It's not like their cost changes because you are prohibited form the mags. They don't sell the mags as new items to double down. They would be open and not in retail packaging.

Way to motherfuck a company going above and beyond to help you get what you want. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I guess they should cancel the service so you cannot buy the gun at all.

Like I said, wasn't bashing, and I've had them remove mags when I've bought guns before as well. I just thought it silly that they pass it off as a ”service”. It would be like a Dodge dealer putting 14" wheels on a hellcat for you and keeping the 20” ones while being courteous enough to not charge you for it.

I have prime, but they don’t have anything I want in stock.

I got it for the blanket 8% off. The free shipping was just a perk. I typically order case quantities which get free shipping even without prime.

I did the math, the 8% saves me more than the $100/year that prime costs.
