Picked up a LaserLyte training system

I picked this up today to start dry firing for practice. http://amzn.to/2cO9PNH

So far it seems really cool... It's very sensitive to UV light so it can act funny if the sunlight directly hits it, but it seems accurate and a good way of practicing. So far I'm having fun with it.

The plinking cans.... Not yet but I plan on it. This thing is fun, man. So far I recommend it. We will see how it holds up

I have snapcaps (or a version of them) that I use for firing and reloading practice, clearing jams, etc. Definitely good to have something to do when I'm not out.

Me too...Usually the cans alone are about $80, the gun alone is about $70, etc. I should be receiving the plinker kit next week!

I have the older version of the target, with a laser bullet that fits in my own gun.

This thing is fun. My 9mm laser bullet came yesterday so I got to try out a few other firearms with it. Can't wait for the cans to come, I'll post a video when they do.

Yup, you can use your real firearms but with a laser bullet. Similar to a snap cap, just has a laser built in that is activated when you fire

Funny that you said that, I backed this on IndieGogo a few months ago and received an e-mail yesterday that my system was shipped. I should be receiving it by the weekend

Definitely want to hear about it. Obviously it looks like I can use my existing laser and would just need the kit.

I am excited about it, been waiting for a couple of months and am ready for it. When I backed it, it was $89 for the stand, the target, and a laser bullet. I assume you can use whatever laser bullet you have but will let you know for sure when I get it. I'll post up a video when it arrives.

That looks like a lot of fun, as well as being a great training tool. Then I saw the price aND thought of all the ammo I could buy for the $$
On the other hand it is a one time expense and has the potential to alleviate the need for some of that ammo as well. Very neat either way.

Agree, it's expensive. I probably should have mentioned that my wife bought it for my for my b-day

I wa s reading some of the reviews, several complained that even small amounts of light, even from incandescent bulbs, rendered it unuseable. How sensitive is it really? I might want one.

It's very sensitive to light. If it's in direct sunlight it might act funny, but just I just keep it away from the windows and it's fine.

Thats cool, but how does the trigger reset?

On another note, i use a high end airsoft glock 19 for practicing in my garage.

Very cool stuff. I've got to do more dry fire this year and have been looking at things like this. Been looking at a Sirt, and software to shoot steel challenge in the living room, enables you to study video of your draw times, splits, and accuracy, but it's expensive. The laserlyte is cool, I tried it at the Harrisburgh, PA show last year, but hoping to find something that doesn't require racking the slide between each trigger press. I'm looking at the Dry Fire Mag for Glocks which enables you to experience the trigger break and trigger reset without racking, but no laser. I've got a Tokyo Marui Glock 17 Airsoft pistol for the backyard, it's pretty darn close to the real thing, enables me to use the same holster as my Glock 17/34/35 and my son set up a USPSA style course in the backyard with mini aluminum airsoft knock down plates, we even have an airsoft version of a Texas Star, very cool, and good practice for competition shooting.

So I got the plinking cans and returned them. They were cheap, the laser in the gun that it came with didn't work every time, and quite frankly having to pick them up every time is not fun.

If you have a sirt pistol or laser insert, etc check out the software shootoff app. Great stuff once you get it running. It's free (plus #1) and will work off a webcam. I have it set up with the projector in the home theater. Works rather well and doesn't get boring.
