Personal feelings are important, I guess!
You take that coupon and go to your county clerks office and register with them .. They send that paperwork as always to the state police ... Albany what ever. and whoever they send it to . Nothing has changed in this situation. The point is to get a new database centralized to be screened against already existing databases the NYSP and others have by making us do all the work inputting the data. Cheaper that sending people to all the counties to get all the data and they probably do not trust it anyways. They take your driver license number in to help with identifying the person. They want people to not do this as the point of all the things in UNSAFE is to take guns away from the law abiding when they do not play the game.
No where have they said what happens when you buy new guns? Do we go to County building and also the NYSP?
So If I register all I got today and buy a new gun tomorrow and I will make that new one my EDC and the NYSP, how they going to know about it? Are they waiting for five years for the next recertification?
Yeah...Got one a while back. Barcodes on them were not reading (I work at the PO)..but shouldve received one by now. Ill inform them. ThanksStill haven't received a letter from Nazi HQ about this. Anyone else?
My FIL got a letter, but I haven't, and we live in the same house. Here has had his permit for much longer than me. I got mine in December of 13.
I agree I'm waiting till the last week of Dec myself,,screw the whole friggin process ! For some guys that have not received your Letter yet if you have gotten your NY Permit in the last 5 years you are GTG no need to "Renew" ! For the 45K of FUDDS that have renewed already I hope a friggin Million guys/gals wait and mail them all in the last week ! Have fun with that ass wipes !!! LOLIt's a mental fuck you to the system that makes no difference to make one feel better about having to bending over.
98% will recertify before 12/1/2017....
2% will claim they didn't know they had to (honesty be damned) and will have to hire an Attorney to get their guns back.
There's a less than .1% chance recertification will be shitcanned. Wishful thinking, just like ACTUAL tax cuts and repairing roads and bridges.
Recert at the last possible minute. Bury Cuomo's Secret Police in paperwork.
What about the percentage of people refusing to comply and just preparing for the Goon Squad to show up at o'dark thirty?
I believe that what will happen is that the state police will send a letter to your local judge and he will revoke your permit..0000001 %
Within the margin of error.
I'll believe otherwise IF and WHEN I begin to read, hear, or view on the local news about this "demographic" of the gun owning populace being arrested and having their handguns confiscated.
Recert isn't like AW registration. NYSP know what you own already and where to find it making non-compliance a bit more risky than burying your AR in the back of your gun safe or rendering it what you believe it to be...compliant.
I believe that what will happen is that the state police will send a letter to your local judge and he will revoke your permit.
That means elected county judges will be doing the bidding of unelected state bureaucrats. Nope don't see any conflict there.
No. I'm waiting till January on the last week to send in the paper recertification with signature confirmation and return receipt required like every smart person should do.WOW. Look at the sneakyass wording on the recertification page. I was curious to see what and who will try and revoke after I don't recertify..(btw, it's your local issuing department, local LEOS) Damn glad to be in Putnam who vocally opposed anything SAFE, who's issuing judge is my friend, and who's County loves our 2A rights and never busts your balls..(except if you're that Mahopac dude in my town that had the Tank in his yard and stockpiles of guns and ammo loolol) but back to OP..read this sentence they snuck in knowing that people aren't gonna get letters or hear anything about this to take action (if they choose too, even though it's against the constitution and contradicting the Counties who issued "No Expiration Date" like mine, and yea it's garbage legislation). I quote "As a permit holder, it is your responsibility to recertify your permit whether you receive a notification letter or not." Fuuuuuuuuck Yoooooooou and your sneaky gun grabbing idea hoping the deadline passes without any hearing about it.(except the first 45,000 fools who ran..(@Willjr75 weren't you number 37?? Hehehehe)

NYS Pistol Permit Recertification
Welcome to the New York State Pistol Permit Recertification Website. The terms "Pistol Permit", "Pistol/Revolver License" and "Firearms License" are synonymous and will be used interchangeably throughout this process. In order to recertify your Pistol Permit it will be necessary for you to provide accurate and timely information in the required fields. You should have your Pistol Permit and your New York State Driver License or Non-Driver Identification, as providing specific information from these documents will be necessary.
Pistol Permit Recertifications are currently only required for those permits originally issued before January 15, 2013. If your permit was issued before January 15, 2013, the deadline to submit your recertification is January 31, 2018. If your permit was issued on or after January 15, 2013, the deadline to recertify is five years after the date the permit was issued. As a permit holder, it is your responsibility to recertify your permit whether you receive a notification letter or not.
New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County and Westchester County Permit Holders:
This system does not process recertifications for New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permits. If you currently have a New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permit, you must follow the requirements that are in place in your county rather than use this recertification system.

apparently they want their next permit to expire sooner.I know right... someone at the Camden club talked about re-certifying online... you have a year to wait and see what happens.
their new permit will expire sooner, so, yea, its dumb.Serious question, does it really make any difference when these people re-certify?
What difference does it make. Yeah, bunch of pansies and sellouts because they certified before others?
Any reason not to mail it a few times ?If you recertify online spaced out at random intervals, you are doing the job of entering the numbers into the system for them without putting a strain on their system since it's spaced out.
If everyone waits until the last few days and mail them a paper form with return receipt requested, they get millions of forms all at once that someone has to sign for and someone else has to manually add into the computer.
Wait until the last few days. You'll get complaints from the postal service and the workers at the state themselves who will report that it's impossible to do the job of manually entering the information.
Make copies of the form you filled out and keep all postal receipts.
It's a is what it is.
Just another thread for @Willjr75 to tell people what they need to do
Yay! Argue! Argue! Argue!
Good point...but I will not waste another dime in mailing for those fucks. The unconstitutional process already cost me more than enough $$.If you recertify online spaced out at random intervals, you are doing the job of entering the numbers into the system for them without putting a strain on their system since it's spaced out.
