POF “Other” rifle

Not being a dick but the whole point of these firearms is that they fall into grey area called an "other firearm". Just like the the Mossberg shock wave. They are not rifles, pistols or shotguns by ATF definition. Everyone has their own comfort level. Caveat emptor.

ATF definition doesn't work in NY.
The ATF calls them firearms, NYS says all firearms need to be on a pistol permit. Good luck putting one on a pistol permit.
In a perfect world, but that definition does not apply to NY. People will get arrested with these, mark my words.

The shockwave is not a shotgun. New York has a definition of what a shotgun is. It must be designed to be fired from the shoulder and have a smooth bore. The shockwave isn't designed to be fired from the shoulder and you have a New York law to fall back on.
This other called just a firearm, doesn't have anything to fall back on. New York doesn't define what a pistol is. It does however define what an assault pistol is. If they call this a pistol, it would have all the features necessary to define it an assault pistol in penal law 265 as an assault weapon.
An anti-gun law enforcement officer at first glance will call this an assault pistol. It's no different than an assault pistol. If I have an assault pistol in my trunk and you are a passenger and have a other firearm in the trunk as well, we will both have the same gun. They aren't going to just let you go and take me away. The gun is the exact same.
Being that it is the exact same, you will have to prove to a court that it is not a pistol. That's the difference.

They’re hanging on the fact that the forward grip is part of the gun from the manufacturer. That won’t hold up in a NY court, not a chance.
Like @Willjr75 said this and an “assault pistol” are exactly the same. The grip is removable just like any other (not that I think a non-removable grip would make a difference). Will said everything I would have, even clearer.

And if the overall length of a pistol is just above 26 inches, a forward grip can be legally installed on it. Not here but in a free state.
All you need is a 7.5 inch barrel to have an overall length 26 in to be able to legally put a front grip on it in a free state.

If they are selling at Blueline then I’m sure you’d have no problem shooting one at their range. RT Gun and Smoke is selling the DLD “other” like crazy too. Down here is Westchester it seems like no one cares. BTW - what was blueline charging for the POF?

So call them and have them ship on to your ffl. They sell them and are the local distributor for them also.
How much are they going for?
I would do this but I don't think any of the FFLs I know would feel comfortable transferring it to me (Firing Pin, Gadsden, Imperial Arms, etc). MIght be worth a discussion though..one of them didn't even know what an other was when I brought it up last week.

That's about right for DI. The piston driven P415 is closer to 2 grand.

So how is this listed on your PERMIT? As "other"?
