That it is.
And given that cops have no duty to protect...what's the downside again?
Not exactly true.... The Police have no duty to protect the individual citizen. Big difference.
That it is.

They should be reflecting on that in jail, like any other citizen would be pointing a weapon at someone.
They couldn't even be bothered to determine if a threat existed. I doubt much that they could make that distinction.
They shouldn't?No seriously, A legitimate tactical answer. How should they approach in that situation
They should ignore the complaint and go back to the doughnut shop?
Correct. They should ignore the complaint and go back to the doughnut shop?
Does the shop normally throw out the half eaten donut? Save it? Or give you fresh ones when you return?
@GOPerfect @Airborneguy @Truebeliever
I would never leave a partially eating morsel of food. I am going to complete my meal before leaving.
Correct.
I occasionally eat half a donut when we get them for free. I never buy them.
Usually, the coffee is free and donuts are half price.
He would just ignore it and wait for a victim.
6/half.Should they have ignored the shoplifting complaint too?
What Victim? the imaginary one along with the imaginary gun? Todays policing is a farce and i can only hope someday Terry vs Ohio gets kicked to the curb. Either a crime is happening or its not ...
Sure it all turned out to be a load of crap, but it COULD have been an ICBM.What Victim? the imaginary one along with the imaginary gun? Todays policing is a farce and i can only hope someday Terry vs Ohio gets kicked to the curb. Either a crime is happening or its not ...
6/half.
If endangering more lives is their response then yeah, pass. They've shown time and time again they can't handle the authority.
And they kept searching for a gun that didn't exist. They probably wouldn't have responded otherwise. I've seen it before with shoplifting. In this case, the Police were investigating a possible crime. As soon they ascertained there was none, the guy was let loose.
Yeah, people get shot by trigger happy cops almost daily now.Problem is Darth, the situations are never black and white, Lots of grey areas , situations change and become fluid. things can get complex quickly
Sure it all turned out to be a load of crap, but it COULD have been an ICBM.
Ahh, but it might have. And they kept searching for a gun that didn't exist. They probably wouldn't have responded otherwise. I've seen it before with shoplifting.

So reacting to a wild shoplifting claim with guns drawn is probably "not a good idea."
And if he didn't they would have anyway because they would have probable cause for a crime that isn't supposed to be a crime as per the Constitution. The driver did give consent

You know what it takes to be "allegedly armed?"Well I agree , the training can use some improvement . but they drew weapons on suspect who was allegedly armed .
And if he didn't they would have anyway because they would have probable cause for a crime that isn't supposed to be a crime as per the Constitution.
Tactical answer would be stop being a bitch treat the person as innocent until FACTS say other wise. Its an amazing concept that existed served us well for 200 years.
