Ranger Green vs Multicam.. lets talk about it..

Ok trying to figure stuff out, for well here upstate NY... for larping fun.

Trying to figure out which would be a better (or would they be somewhat equal) choice for well upstatish (not the dirty city) NY.

I currently did my battle belt in Multicam but I don't really feel everything has to match and well I have a weird love for Ranger (or OD) Green.

So let's pretend I wanted to pick up a Plate carrier and chest rig and all that jazz.

Would Ranger Green be a decent option for us here in NY or would Multicam be the better option.



I also have narrowed it down to 2 PC that I want if I was to get one.

First option Spiritus systems lv119 overt

Multicam


Ranger Green


And second choice Ferro Concepts Slickster
Multicam

It was available for all the items I was buying at the time, plus multi-environment use.

I like rg and mc. Most of my gear is mc, it is a fairly universal camo. As for what pc, out of those 2 id say ferro as the shoulder straps give your neck more clearance so less rubbing on the neck.

Go for the multicam that way when you get arrested for something perfectly legal in the future you will get your 15 minutes of fame on the network news as a gun nut or Trump patriot. Because you know it is going to happen. Lol

Honestly if I was going straight gray man I would get the Slickster in Wolf Gray

Honestly at $160 (before shipping or any of that) the slickster is a top tier at an amazing price (granted it's a covert "slick" carrier) downside is well they are such a great carrier that everyone wants them an never in stock.

And the Gray would be a perfect gray man option especially in a slick carrier

I think just wearing a plate carrier makes you not a "gray man" anymore and if I really wanted to blend in, I'd rather a camo pattern close to the environment than a solid color that's close to the environment. Neither are going to hide you, but the brain really does seem a bit slower in picking up broken-up patterns than solid ones. Then again, you could always spray paint some black tiger-stripes onto the ranger carrier for a similar effect.

I always loved tiger stripe, have a set now, and always did since i was a kid, also love woodland, but most of my stuff is mc now as i feel its a superior camo.

As for gray man, you could have a slick set and wear it under a jacket, but it would be tough to be a gray man in a pc.

This. If you’re at the point where you’re running an externally worn plate carrier, you’re no longer “grey man”. Something thin that’s worn underneath like soft armor, that can be pulled off much easier. You’ll have a hard time running stand-alone LVL III+ or IV’s in a PC and maintain “grey man” status.

It's funny you posted this thread because I was pondering the identical question. I found a few nice carriers in ranger green that I think look really sharp but also considering if I should go mc or not.


Ranger green will probably not blend in as well in most environments but will probably attract slightly less attention.

I think ranger green is totally workable in ny. It will do a pretty decent job of blending locally.


I heard a theory the other day on mc. One channel I was watching the guy stated he and his crew have all gone full mc for gear and accessories his rationale is hypothetically if they're manning a road block into their neighborhood he thinks many normies will subconsciously assume they are military or police or sheriff's since that's the camo pattern and gear the average civilian thinks authorities wear. He is going mc not to blend in but for the recognition that goes with it.


If you were walking around in jeans, a hoodie and ranger green pc it would attract less attention.

Lmfao still out of stock I see uhg (I'm not Lucas's biggest fan, I'll give him credit where credit is due) but based on the whole reason he stated making his PC (if I heard everything correctly) and the fact that it is never in stock is hilarious

It depends entirely on your environment.

Camo is *designed* to be a gray man (in the woods). What's better than your enemies thinking you're not a threat ? Them thinking your part of the underbrush.

"gray man" *is* urban camouflage. Instead of blending in with rocks and trees, you are blending in with a mass of sheeple.

But, just get a baggy shirt and throw it over your plate carrier of choice in an urban environment. It won't stand close scrutiny, but if you're under close scrutiny neither will anything else with hard armor.

So I think I'm going to stick with the MC for larping.

Actually almost ordered most or all of the LV119 Overt (it was a toss up, first was just going to get the front and back bags, then I thought well for now I can also add their minimal coumberbund for $30, and then a 5.56 placard for $60) but decided getting just some of a PC was pointless right now (I have a super cool more important project I'm working on, see what did you get today thread that could use those funds) or even getting the whole thing which would pretty much be the same amount of money as the min I need to finish above mentioned project (stupid out of stock parts) and both of those options I'd still be SOL until I pony up the money for plates.

So instead I actually bout a few things I'd been thinking of getting for my battle belt to make that more efficient for me. (And cost me way less money out of my other projects funds)

Current belt set up


Ordered two Esstac 5.56 Kywi pouches (both with molle on the outside, explanation to follow)

Thought process behind that, is I can remove the Scorpion (which I like as well) add one Kywi there, then remove the dump pouch (pictured next to the Scorpion) and attach the 2nd Kywi in that spot. But then attach the dump pouch onto the Kywi.

This will give me 2 pistol mags and 2 rifle mags, it's not my ideal situation but when you are working with a 29-32" waste there isn't much room so im going to see how it works.

I have also decided to ditch the belt mounted IFAK. I love this one but it takes up a lot of room (for even being small) but more importantly if I ever needed to sit say in a vehicle it can become problematic.

So my solution to still have 1st aid (and even more of it) I'm going super cool guy.. and ordered the Spiritus Systems Fanny Sack mk3
With this i can rotate it to the back (where my ifak is now) when I need it out of the way, but also rotating it to the front for when sitting and in vehicle's..


Also fanny pack are cool, don't @ me

So the original plan was to pick up one of the 1+1 kywis and remove one of the pistol mags


But then seeing the molle option on a regular kywi got me thinking I'd rather move the dump pouch a little

My whole goal is to stay as slim as possible.. doubling up mags equals being wider which means bumping into more things.

While adding the dump pouch to the rifle mag pouch does add some width its less than adding a magazine

Ordinarily I favor OD green as being fairly lo-pro in populated areas but I think wearing a plate carrier pretty much is letting the cat out of the bag so..........
The ranger green is probably slightly cheaper I'd suppose.

Both color options would be the same price..

The Slickster is like a fraction of the cost of the LV119, but not as modular by design (even the covert LV119 is more modular than the slickster)

Slickster $160ish

LV119 $215 for just front and rear bags, would still need a coumberbund so if using a Spiritus add another $30-90 depending on what one you go with
