Have they added new pistols since then? Curious if the lack of recertification would come up when a new amendment goes before a judge.I work with such a guy and he has faced zero repercussions as well as his wife.

Many counties the judge is not involved after issuance. Unless a big message pops up on a screen the clerk just processes it as normal. Since the State and the County really do not seem to communicate that much it would not surprise me that message does not make it.Have they added new pistols since then? There is no conduit between NYSP and County when it isn't done. County is the issue authority, State created the requirement with no enforcement resourcing or authority....until you do something that makes them look.Have they added new pistols since then? Or in other words, it doesn't work like the DMV.Many counties the judge is not involved after issuance. Unless a big message pops up on a screen the clerk just processes it as normal. Because the authority for permits rest at County level. The requirement is an artificial insert by the State not within their authority. Many counties the judge is not involved after issuance. Which schedule? State is intentionally trying to entrap people by changing the law.Orange County has the recertification requirement on the instruction sheet for an amendment.
Picked up a used snub Model 10 the other day, FFL said a judge in Ulster County is reviewing your recertification history during any amendment processing and if you have not recertified on states schedule he will pull your license
Update on this, a friend, whose brother in law was transferring a pistol from his sister located in orange county to his ulster county permit was called by the sheriff's office and told his pistol permit was revoked by a female ulster county Judge. The judge had reviewed his recertification history and found that it a elapsed for a couple of months before he updated it. He had turn in his own pistol as a result. He's awaiting a hearing from the judge to determine what she is going to do.Orange County has the recertification requirement on the instruction sheet for an amendment.

I told my father to try to check his certification. Him and my mother both have cancer, so I hope they remembered. My mom sure as hell isn't in any mind to do it, she's 77lbs right now.Update on this, a friend, whose brother in law was transferring a pistol from his sister located in orange county to his ulster county permit was called by the sheriff's office and told his pistol permit was revoked by a female ulster county Judge. Even they ATF sends you a reminder WITH the PREFILLED form to update your FFL.What's sad is for my PA permit I get a letter well in advance of the 5 year expiration. When every other license is due for renewal in NY you get notification in writing. Can you smell the infringement and entrapment intent here?

Luckily I'm co-registered on their guns so they would just turn them over to me worst case.
I hope your friend comes out on the good side of this. Yoo bad it all rests on the whim of a judge who's political leanings may not include honoring the document she swore to uphold.Update on this, a friend, whose brother in law was transferring a pistol from his sister located in orange county to his ulster county permit was called by the sheriff's office and told his pistol permit was revoked by a female ulster county Judge. Just checked
System up.Just checked

How so?This story sounds fishy.
Except that is what happened to him, Ulster County Judge revoked his permit because he failed to recertify. He did recertify it after the fact and before he submitted the transfer paperwork, but it didn't matter to her. His other pistol is now in custody of the Ulster County Sheriff's office, awaiting a hearing with said judge. There's your BS!I call BS on the story:
A pistol or revolver license issued by New York City or Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties expires and needs to be renewed every 3 years.
A pistol or revolver license issued outside of those areas does not expire, but the license holder must recertify with the New York State Police every 3 years for a concealed carry license and every 5 years for other types of licenses.
Nothing in any of the legal language or FAQ's regarding an issuing officer (judge) being able to revoke a permit because you didn't recertify. Yes, permit does expire in NYC, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk, but post was about Orange and Ulster. That judge needs to go eat a bag of dicks.
Also...you guys are just fucked in general, even your .gov can't decide if it's 3 years or 5 years:
- From the NYSP recertification site: (OWASP CSRFGuard Project - New Token Landing Page)
If your permit was issued before January 15, 2013, the deadline to submit your recertification is January 31, 2018. If your permit was issued on or after January 15, 2013, the deadline to recertify is five years after the date the permit was issued. As a permit holder, it is your responsibility to recertify your permit whether you receive a notification letter or not. <- I love this part!
- From the NY.gov site: (Frequently Asked Questions: New Concealed Carry Law)
If you have a New York State concealed carry license, you are now required to submit your recertification to the New York State Police every 3 years after issuance instead of 5 years.
So what is it? 3 years, or five years? That right there should be enough to get this judge's revocation tossed. Plausible deniability?
