Hopefully Ruger can get the Marlin brand back on the right track. Ruger has a knack for reading the market and releasing products consumers want so I'd be interested to see what they do with Marlin's product line.

They are so so. The issue is that several others are a total disaster so they make ruger look decent.

Yea, they're decent at QC. What they do well is knowing what corners to cut to still make a solid product, and their customer service will bend over backwards for you when you do notice the issues your firearm has. They are very good at making "modern classics" like the Blackhawk, Vaquero, Redhawk, Wrangler, the No. 1 rifle, the Old Army BP revolver, etc. I think their product lineup will mesh very well with Marlin's and they'll be way better for Marlin than Remington.

My early 70's Marlin 336 has one of the best triggers I've ever shot.

The customer experiences are a mix bag either good or bad.
at least is not like FN or Beretta waiting more than one year to swap a barrel on a semi auto pistol. (based on true events)
they do make mistakes and QC fails to catch them like for example the threads come shaved, machine marks or head space issues, etc...
One of their biggest issues is the barrels can be either very nice or shoot like crap. This is an area where savage is years ahead.
Not as bad as remington in the last few years that basically trashed the brand. Bergara has taken the budget Remington 700 action to the next
level something remington should have done but they didn't have the vision.
Overall Ruger are a decent budget brand and catching up with others in the art of making consistent accurate rifles and guns.
The nice thing is at least they are trying at innovation and that attracts people that is a good thing.

Other than an issue with ammo preference it has been rock solid and shoots very accurately.

Last week I found out Henry Rifles has come out with a .308, with a 4 shot, detachable magazine. NOT TUBE FED. Im kinda excited. I always wanted a lever action 308. I got my 30-30, 45-70........and now ??

I have a Remlin 1895, I love the thing. I put Skinner Alaskan peep sites on it, a fly-weight load gate and a Large loop lever, Its a great shooter, although at nearly $2 per round, its expensive to shoot, I just love shooting it

I have a 1955 Model 336 in .30-30 that is just a rock solid woods gun. My father grabs it every season and will fight anyone who tries to take it from him. Lol

I have an 1895 .45-70 that was made in 2014 I think which I always toy with selling because it just feels like junk. The only reason I keep it is because it's my only .45-70 and I like the round.

If Ruger starts making quality Marlins again, I'll definitely grab a .35 or even better, .357!

Actually, I have a product suggestion-
I have often read about the buttery smooth and lightning fast toggle link action of the Winchester 1873. While such an action might not be up to heavy rifle calibers it would be awesome to see a similar smooth and speedy action modernized and in .357/.44 Magnum caliber. I would suggest a tastfully modernized lever gun with all the modern mounting options but with a more restrained, less tactical arrangement. A simple M1913 rail spanning the receiver and a standard style forend with 2 Mlok slots at 3,6 and 9 o'clock at the end, don't need a full wrap around, free float metal hanguard with Mlok all up and down it, just a standard black polymer forend with 2 slots at the end, Laminate wood furniture as an option, simple parkerized finish. Give me something like that and I'll buy one immediately. In .357.

I have the 35 Remington JB marked 336, I also have A .41 Mag JB marked 1894FG

Its possible to do ugly in such a way that it ends up looking good. If form follows good function it usally ends up looking good.
The 336 for example is an honest working man's gun with those traditional lines but they also give you that side eject and the pistol grip style stock which are more functional than the top eject and straight grip stock of some of their competitors.

Its not so much the lines as it is very ugly bluing and very bland wood.
