Sounds like the school totally overreacted to me.
Complete overreaction. However I thought that a green card was required for a non native to legally purchase a firearm here.
IF you're not a citizen, why should any firearm be sold to except to export to a legal entity through a legal entity. If US citizens are restricted..non citizens should have no possession at all..My 2 cents

Inalienable right.
Welcome to america. Is it Your 1st day?
..Citizen vs foreigner ? Why a green card mentioned also.
somthing is missing here.. inalienable right...this is what is covered under the Constitution.. IF it covers everyone.....everyone in the planet...why doesn't everyone come in and do what they want as long as legal. An alien under this "right" can own/purchase a firearm and go anywhere because it's now "their right"
Is there not separation between alien vs citizen except for a few legal reasons?

An alien admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa is prohibited from shipping, transporting, receiving, or possessing a firearm or ammunition unless the alien falls within one of the exceptions provided in 18 U.S.C. 922(y)(2), such as: a valid hunting license or permit, admitted for lawful hunting or sporting purposes, certain official representatives of a foreign government, or a foreign law enforcement officer of a friendly foreign government entering the United States on official law enforcement business.
[18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B) and 922(y)(2); 27 CFR 478.11 and 478.32]
If he has a hunting license he'd be fine....
Notice the red letters? I think that right there would make a sale ok, but a sale didn't happen and he got expelled from the school for THINKING of buying a gun. That no matter how you look at it just isn't right or legal.
The lazy reporting makes it hard to figure out how much of an overreaction this might be.This makes little sense. I called the NYSP and they said it was fine to sell him the gun so then I called the FBI. The FBI wanted to talk with him. Why? They have terrorists admitting the want to do mass shootings and can’t find who they are with thier name displayed but jam this kid up?
Why would the fbi detain him and discuss his position in the deans office? They expelled him then searched his room as if after he was expelled it makes it ok for them to search his property without a warrant. Something isn’t right here.
Why no charges if he was carrying an illegal switchblade?
Thanks for sharing, though as we all know a NY ID is not required for a rifle or shotgun purchase. There are other acceptable ways to establish identity and make a sale. A passport/student ID would be a red flag, but not necessarily illegal nor indicative of an attempt to commit a crime. It's important that gun shop owners also distinguish between customers who are genuine bad actors and those who just need education on what they can and can't do.... He did not display a NY ID as is required for even a rifle or shotgun purchase.
