Please do not compare the LCP 2 to the original LCP! The original LCP sucked, as @Tinman stated the mile long trigger, the snap, etc. However, the LCP Custom fixed those issues and the LCP 2 improved even more on the LCP Custom. I have the Custom and BG380 and the LCP is much more comfortable to shoot, less snappy and all around IMO an easier and better gun to shoot.

I own one, got it a few years back.
Out of all my guns, pistols or rifles, the LCP II was the only one that had major issues. I was told there was a “break in” period, like with the Kahr .380s, but I fired maybe 300-500 FMJ and HPs through it and it would have FTEs and very frequent FTF. Like 1-3 FTF per mag.
What was happening was after firing, the slide would go back, strip a round and load it, as you would expect. But the trigger, when pulled, had no resistance and wouldn’t drop the hammer. I found the “fix” was to hit the back of the gun with my hand. That would put tension on the trigger and then I could shoot.
I ended up sending it in. They basically replaced the entire slide and trigger assembly. It shot fine after, though later I took it to the range to rotate carry ammo and had a failure (was a FTE I believe) on the first or second round.
I have a lot of Ruger stuff and I think they make some of the best firearms out there right now, but the LCP II had a rough honey moon phase for me and I’m not sure I trust it even now. I don’t really carry it anymore, though it really is awesome in a pocket holster, even with more form fitting jeans and suits.
I’m not the kind of person that needs to shoot thousands of rounds before I trust a gun; if a pistol shoots a couple hundred through it reliably, I’ll carry it. But with the LCP II I would suggest really making sure your particular one is reliable.

I wouldn't give up on it. There are alot of people who just don't know their way around a gun and then swear it's the guns fault. And from what I've read the ones that have a problem get sent in and come back working great.
Me, but it sucks to shoot.
I dont care tho it is not a range toy type of pistol. I dont like to shoot more the 3 or 4 mag on a given range day.
Me too, and I agree. Not a range gun, it's a pocket pistol.

That may be a wise move, but some of the bad LCP 2 press is likely due to low round counts, ammo sensitivity, and grip sensitivity. (My wife and I are not LCP fans at all, but smarter men than me say the Rugers can be reliable with the right ammo).
I am suprised that the little 9mm Kahr and 380 Glock printed badly. Your lovely wife may have to make modest fashion adjustments for a reliable carry choice but she may only have to look at different carry options.
We attended a women's carry fashion show that gave us new insights and I suggest you try to attend one with your wife.
My wife is smaller and can almost always highly conceal a P238 but she varies her carry location / holster accordingly. (Same goes for my smaller sister, many of our friends, and my son's previous undercover LEO girlfriend who concealed a G23 ). They all claim that multiple carrying locations, with a little training, was less of an issue than the oft heard claims from under informed keyboard jockeys.
It is also suprising with my wife, how a much larger Walther PPS M2 can conceal much of the time, often with no wardrobe choice compromises. On the downside, we invested a small fortune for an arsenal of holster / carry devices for her. If you have given up on the G42 for concealability or LCP 2 for reluability, rounds with FTX or higher velocity copper ARX bullets and a recommended 200 round break in period you may want to consider the more expensive Kahr P380.

Keep in mind it is one of the best selling handguns.
You’ll find more posts about problems with the Toyota Camry than a Zonda exotic, but which is really more reliable.

She got a job working unarmed security in a high end residental building and has to patrol the stairwells. While it's in a safe neighborhood, I still worry for her since rich people can be crazy too.
I just want her to have something for herself just in case. The job be damned if she ever needed to defend herself.
I'm thinking something small like the Ruger will fit the bill since it's light, thin, and it'll only be a close, point and shoot empty the mag weapon.
These damned reviews drive me crazy though. I'm leaning towards a regular Ruger LCP now since it's been out for a while and kinks have been ironed out.

@Willjr75 when you say regular, you mean first gen? If so you really should reconsider that, the trigger on them is so shitty. I got my Custom for $225 just over 2 years ago.

Whatever the generation #'s are, the fact is the first LCP trigger sucked. The next LCP was the LCP custom which fixed the trigger issues. The next LCP is the LCP II.

Dammit you are confusing me. So there wasn't an upgraded LCP since it first came out in regards to the trigger except for the Custom which only is aesthetically different and the LCP 2. (The one that just came out a few years ago with the Glock type trigger?)
