Lol sorry for the confusion. There was the LCP gen 1. Then the LCP 1 custom which had an upgraded trigger and sights. And now the LCP 2 which is a total tear down of the gen 1 and improved in many many ways. I would skip gen 1 all together and get a LCP2.

Thanks. It's very generous of you but I think I'm going to go with the new Ruger and hope I don't get a lemon. She still has some months before she gets her license. I'll be putting it through its paces while she waits.
The good news is that they'll even replace the whole gun if you aren't satisfied from what I've read.
I’ve written about this before but think it may ease your concerns. I bought my Gen1 LCP used from a well known local shop. Other than the wife not liking it it ran smoothly. Gen 1s had a potential drop safe issue so Ruger recalled them all for a refit. Sent mine in and got it back in exactly 7 days with a free spare mag for my trouble. Round trip postage covered by Ruger.
After refit pistol would choke/jam on last round. Called Ruger and they paid round trip shipping again to fix. Again exactly 7 days. Pistol has been flawless since.
Put some rounds through it before worrying about a couple malfunctions - it’s a machine after all. If it doesn’t smooth out I’ll bet Ruger will make it right.

No hijack at all. They have a pretty large selection. They are a little more expensive than other places. Usually about 40 bucks more then what I've seen online.
I support them though since it's the only large gun store in Orange County since we lost Gander.

289 is a reasonable price for the lcpII. I paid like $200 online when I found a deal, but $20.00 for shipping and $25 for the transfer put it at $250. Only place around me had them for $340-$370 or I would have bought locally.

Thanks Will. They are a little farther for me but I hate Precision and the inventory at Collectors (who I do like very much) is somewhat limited in the handgun dept. Will have to make the trek out again sometime this spring (I like purusing the rest of the store as well!)

I have an LCP2 and I’ve really enjoyed it. I bought it in 2018, I’ve put around 500 rounds through it, and the only failures I’ve had were with some weird polymer coated ammo that I have to use at my LGS indoor range, 2 FTE to be exact, within 50 rounds. The ammo I’ve had zero malfunctions with has been all over the place, magtech, Aguila, critical defense, civil defense, pmc bronze, no failures with any of those. I have 2 factory 6 rounders and 1 factory 7 round mag. I’ve pocket carried and 4 o’clock carried. Some printing with pocket carry, but honestly I’ll carry and extra mag with the pocket holster, and if you’re not one of us, you’d never know. I find it a bit snappy, but it’s not a range gun as others have said, but it’s also not uncomfortable to shoot. My only complaint is I noticed some pretty quick rusting on the mag release button, but probably it was due to a lack of maintenance on my part. I’m careful to rub it down now after carrying, especially if I know it got sweaty, and haven’t noticed further issues. I think it has a great trigger, and even with average/large hands (I wear xl gloves) it handles well. Let me know if you’ve got any questions. LCP2 and glock 17 in the pic.

Update. I was pleasantly surprised at how this Ruger LCP 2 shot. Recoil was way milder than I expected. I was even more accurate with it than I normally am with my Glock 26. It has a very light trigger. You hit the wall just like a Glock and it breaks cleanly so I was happy with that.
Only had 2 issues in 200 rounds. I had one failure to lock back. I don't know if I inadvertently hit the slide release by accident or it was the magazine. I shot about another 75 rounds or so from that same magazine and it never happened again. The other issue was I had a failure to extract on the second to last round. Round # 199 of American Eagle. Damn. I was hoping for a flawless outing but it did well overall even with deliberate one-handed limp wristing.
Let's see what the next 200 rounds brings.

For such a small gun, (it's freaking tiny!) I'm going to say that besides the Glock 42, this LCP 2 is the mildest shooter I ever shot. I could have shot it all day long unlike what I have read and heard others say about the original LCPs being handfuls.
