Who here has one. I've decided to buy one for the wife. I originally wanted her to have a 9mm but she wears tight fitting clothes and I want her to actually have a gun that she can conceal on her body in contrast to in her purse.

My friend and I tried concealing on her an XDS, a Kahr CM9, and a Glock 42. No go. It prints to all hell on her and she isn't supposed to carry at her job so I'd rather her have this than leaving a 9mm in her car. With this, it's light enough to conceal in a bra holster or an ankle holster. Slightly larger pistols wouldn't work for either method of carry.

Anyway. What are your thoughts and experiences on it? Reliability, trigger, ammo finickyness, ect.

This is for the LCP 2 and not the original or custom.

Don’t have one myself, I’m just here for the feedback. Wife likes the looks of it, neither of us are supposed to carry at work, and I figured a matched pair might be a nice addition to the roster.

A friend has one and it was an early production. It had to go back to Ruger right away for jamming. Came back quick and has not missed a beat, and he has quite a few rounds through it. Shoots good imo. Worthy of a look for sure. I have the LCP custom and it is a little smaller but really sucks to shoot.

Has she shot one? Can’t comment on LCP2 as I have LCP1 BUT we bought it for same reason - concealability. My wife shot it one time and hated it - never picked it up again. Very snappy and uncomfortable to shoot unless you practice with it and really grip it. I actually like it.

My wife had the LCP original and hated it. Way to snappy and a mile long trigger pull. She now carries a LCR in .38 spl. and loves it.

I have one. Maybe 400 rounds through it. FTF on first 50 rounds, then I cleaned it, had two FTE over next 50 rounds, and it's been flawless last couple hundred except for an FTE. I clean it after every trip.

Anyway, it's not really all that much smaller than a 9mm. She'll never be able to ankle carry it. Even on a guy it will print unless really baggy pants. I imagine she could get away with appendix concealed and nobody at work would ever figure it out, if she gets the right holster (some will let a shirt tuck in over it, so it's 100% concealed without even a clip).

I never shot the LCP but everybody says the 2 is miles better shootabilty wise. It has a much lighter single action trigger.

The manually specifically states NOT to carry this with a round in the chamber, and a lot of people online have argued about whether this means it's unsafe or not. It lacks some safety feature Glocks have, but apparently is completely drop safe and what not, and nobody has actually heard of a scenario of an accidental discharge due to mechanical failure.

If I'm shooting slowly I can hit a man-sized silhouette target about 35% of the time at 50 yards with this. I am a complete newbie to pistols, though.

I'm going with the Lcp 2 compared to the original or the custom for a couple reasons. The trigger is exactly like a Glock. It is about five to six pounds pull and has a short reset. They fattened up the back of the grip a little bit to help with recoil too.

I don't know if that will help significantly shooting it but I imagine it will help some. I'll just instill into her that she won't feel the pain that they she actually has to use it.

She's only shot my glock 26 in Connecticut. She still waiting on her license. Thanks. That's a generous offer. I'm thinking of getting one for myself too real soon for something just to stick in a pocket when I walk the dog when I don't want to worry about having to put on a belt or anything.

One of the PA forum members said his wife carried both Glock and LCP she didn't like either so he picked up one of these with some good defense ammo should be sufficient Bersa FS380M Firestorm 380 ACP Black Matte 7rd *CA Compliant*
But then I think it might be to thick for what she needs

What about the LCR revolver in 9mm?
The Seecamp @GOYABEAN suggested is brutal to shoot in .380. Make your fingers bleed brutal. They are also expensive and hard to get since the are basically hand made.

I'm not a fan of revolvers. I don't want a 12 pound pull and I've already taught her how to do the thumbs forward technique. Plus I don't like the higher bore axis and slow reload ability either. It'll weigh more too and be thicker.

Since I'm not a fan of hollow points, the only thing that the .380 will lose compared to the 9mm is hard barrier penetration. But a flat pointed full metal jacket will penetrate through both sides of a human body just the same as a 9mm full metal jacket will if it's a frontal shot.

Appendix, 2 o clock, and the bra holster from the well armed woman website. The bra holster worked for the XDS and Glock 42 but the weight of the gun really pull down on her bra.

They make them in 25 acp, too
I saw a gun I swear was called the "martian" a couple weeks ago in a store used for $200 and it made my lcp 2 look like a cannon by comparison. It was absolutely miniature. Was a semi-auto magazine 25acp.

I don't know the dimensions but my mother in law's handles well, shoots very well for a small gun in an anemic caliber, and is not terribly large. I would offer it up for your consideration but it's in Michigan.

I like the sigs as well - both 9mm and 380. Great size and good rep as far as I'm aware. What I didn't like for my wife was the thumb safety. Knowing she wouldn't train as much as I'd like her to I was concerned it would introduce a failure point if she needed to draw under stress.

The lcp 2 is the way to fly. It is small and lite. I know you are not a percentage guy but the LCP 2 weighs about 30% less than the glock 42. IMO is would be very reasonable for her to ankle carry it as long as she does not wear pegged pants. I have an ankle holster for my LCP and I will forget I have it on. I have no problem hiding a g26 on my ankle, but the weight is something that could get hard to get used to.

I do love the small revolvers but not a great choice when concealment is the main concern. From what I have read the magguts +1 works well but I dont have personal experience with one in the LCPs. A friend has one in his p238 with a ton of rounds without issue. 7+1 is not a bad start. For 380 ammo I like the XTP bullets since they dont expand a ton, so the penetration is decent.

More or less just commenting to follow the thread. I want a micro 9 to carry at work also. Considering I wear a tucked in shirt I doubt I could pull off any hip carry. So very interested in the ankle carry/micro pistols.

I have an LCPII and love it. I shoot it great. The trigger is great. Mags suck at 6 rounds and are expensive, but small gun, small mag. I don’t think the recoil is bad at all, but I’m not recoil sensitive at all. Only thing I don’t like is the trigger is small and bites the bottom of my trigger finger between the trigger and trigger guard. It won’t stop me from shooting it, but only can shoot 50-10” rounds at a time. It’s my secondary gun and I prefer a 9mm and a slightly larger gun for practical reasons. I’ve had no issues with the gun except now the slide is starting to rust. I’d trust my life to it. Sights are bad at all. I do t like the take down pin much, but it makes sense for the gun and the use.

Haha. Okay. This was 2 years ago shooting my dad's Glock 19. I think if she can handle that recoil, she should be able to handle the slightly more recoil of the Ruger.
