Apologies if I derail the classifieds for the RP listed on here. Ordered up this one for sub $800 (without scope and should see it in a few days. Why 6mm Creedmore? It's one of the few calibers I dont already have of course. Actually, like most everyone who owns a rifle, want to continue with my league shoot and not end up picking up scraps every week. Also, for the price, I couldn't resist. I like bargains.
My buddy has one in 6.5 Creed and he really likes it.

I have a friend with a rpr in 6.5 and lovers it. For the price I would have went 6mm too. its a great caliber from what I have read.

.308 was actually more money. I felt the ballistics were more important so with competitive shooting in mind I decided that route. Since I can't really hunt where I do with rifle, hunting as a caliber wasn't really considered, although I think a 6mm might do just fine.

Supposed to arrive Friday. Now I have to start glass shopping and I dont think I'm going to cheap out with this on optics as I usually do.

I love these riffles and would buy one, but the shooting range at my parents property is about 30-40 yards. So no point in buying one.

Finally came in this afternoon. Picked up and dragged it back to my man cave just as the wife got home. She saw it in the bench but it looks a lot like my Grendel so she paid no attention. Initial pre shoot comments.

1. SOB feels looooong.
2. Not sure what trigger is set from the factory but like it where it is.
3. Like the folding stock.
4. Already like the ease of adjustability of the cheek and butt.
5. Totally turned off by the chalky styrofoam it came packaged in. For a rifle of this caliber it should come in something nicer than that, even cardboard. And when you pack a matte finished rifle in chalk white styrofoam, well its not easy to get off the finish.

Need to start looking for some optics but would like to run some down the barrel this weekend. We'll see.

Think I've settled on this. Found on online for what I believe is a very reasonable price. My friend has one in his 6.5 Creed and he's very happy with it. Gets great reviews and within my budgetary range.

6mm creedmore is basically a hot rodded .243..

I actually have the same rifle with a nikon monarch..

Just.got back from the range. Drove the 15 minutes or so there, went for ears since guys were already banging away......no range bag. Ears, eyes, targets, glass and AMMO in range bag. Not very happy with myself. Back home for range bag.
Goals for the day were...

1. Barrel break in.
2. Zero scope.
3. Stretch it out to see how she shoots.

I've been watching various youtube vids with opinions ranging from "fuck it, shoot it out of the box raw until it stops working, to "clean it all the way to 60 rounds with cleaning cycles in between EACH round and possibly taking 8 hours to completec I did find a fairly useful video that focused on how the shooter plans to use the rifle. Bench rest or general use. Although this gun will be the bench rest league next year, I knew it was going to see other use so I opted for what I believe is called a "Copper Equilibrium" session. Long story short, it's a relatively accelerated break in where shot consistancy is achieved a little quicker.

Called for basically 5 rounds of 5 shots with a cleaning between EACH shot with 10 powder solvent patches and a couple dry patches. Then I believe it was something like 5 rounds of 5 shots cleaning cycle between each 5 shots. Well I got most way through the first rounds and an ejected case hit my bottle of open Hoppes on the bench and I lost about all I had. Ended up getting up to about 2 rounds of the 5 and clean process just leaving enough solvent for a final clean. Ended up running 5 boxes in total.



Here's my review at the end of the day.

Comfortable to shoot. Made some minor stock adjustments and will surely tweak further.
Eye relief seemed about right and comfortable. Scope is killer.
Action seems very tight. Had to "slam" the bolt to get the round to chamber but seemed to get better over time. I'm sure it will improve.
Recoil is a joke. I'd liken it to my .223. Brake surely does its job well.
Trigger is perfect. I dont know what it pulls at but it's much like my accutrigger with just a little creep, and I'm fine with that.
Accuracy. Its shown me it can be stupid accurate. I just have to better my input and let it show. Here's a couple pics of my 250 yard shots.



When I ran out of 3" targets I honed in on the cover up dots I placed. Aim small, miss small...



My best group of the day. Not sure how I did it but will be trying to replicate for sure....



Summary. Most I ever spent on a rifle and scope. I'm sure there's those whose spent more but for my investment, I'm thoroughly satisfied. This was with factory Hornady 108gr ELD match rated at 2960fps. I can only imagine custom hand loads would be an improvement.

I'm looking into some others but most claim this one works best. I dont really see much need to switch. Only about $20 a box, which seems fair. Planning on hand loading sometime down the road.

Do u have everything for the league? Have you tryied loading the bipod? I have had good luck with loading the bipod. I still need to work on my technique

Just about everyone uses bag or stand rests. I bought this a few months ago.


Just wanted something simple that would give some consistant repeatability. I need a better rear bag of monopod setup next season. The "pros" have all their leather bags set up that don't hardly settle at all after shots. For them it's more about minute adjustments and shooter control. Once I get the rear solidified the front elevation is pretty easy to adjust.

I use a tab gear small rear bag when shooting off a bench. It’s a little small when shooting prone. I’ll pick up their med bag hopefully this winter. I like how you can make small adjustments with their rear bag by squeezing or relaxing your hand grip on the bag. That front rest is similar to the front of my lead sled. I find it sloppy and when u tighten up the lock, you off target. But the rear of my rifle is cradled by the leadsled, so it won’t be a issue for you.

Nice rifle and nice shootin Tex. I’m seriously thinking of dropping some dough on a 6.5CM rifle in the very near future and that one is looking choice. My friend and FFL shoots a custome barreled 6mm in competition matches. Mostly in PA. He rolls his own and I’ve seen some of his distance targets, you can cover up 5 shots with a dime.
Once you start reloading you’ll find the load that will settle that gun in nicely and then you’ll really see what she can do.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is certainly the "it" round out there right now but the performance of the 6 seems to be right there too. Picking up ammo at Targetsports.com for about $22 a box so I'm OK with it. If I'd found a 6.5 for the price I may have gone with that. My buddy suggested a pick up a concentricity gauge if I'm going to continue with factory ammo.

Guess this will also correct the issue if found. Says it's more prevalent than your think. Going to start looking around at re loading rigs.
I can say that this gun has made me learn more about scope mounting, barrel break in, cleaning hardware and supplies, and scope use and operation. I'll be doing some things to my other units as a result.
