I'm going to out Heinie Straight Eights on my Shield. I'm going to T&E a Magguts kit as well.
Until the come up with a gun roster like California....My agency changed handguns three times in my career. We had to learn to become proficient with what we were issued. So to me it was a matter of overall cost for upgrades on the Shield. I figure I could adapt if the price were right. I must say that the Shield felt pretty good in my hand, no complaints there.
I also like to tinker and upgrade my firearms, so I also thought that I'd end up spending more on the Shield in the long run, acceptable trigger or not .
My FFL received my PPS M2 just this past week and I went and fondled it a little. I liked it a lot.
To each his/her own...it's great living in a time when we have such a great selection of decent firearms to choose from.

So the shield I ordered was delivered to my FFL today. Can I get the receipt from him to submit the rebate? Remember I don't have my permit yet, so I can't take possession of the gun, but I should be able to get the receipt from Palmetto state armory, no?

Looks like you just need the serial # and copy of the receipt.. in the past the e-mail receipt has worked for me.
You might be over analyzing. While I don't think the trigger is perfect on tje Shield, I do think it is pretty good. The break is clean. With trigger time it is possible to adapt to even a poor trigger.Just fondled both, the regular shield and the performance center yesterday at BGC. I gotta admit, both triggers felt like gigantic turds. Both felt like they were getting stuck on something part way through the trigger pull. The performance center surprisingly, was the worse of the two. I don't remember the trigger being that bad when I shot it. Is it typical for a trigger to feel like crap while dry firing but not so bad with live fire? I would imagine you don't focus so much on the trigger while live firing unless that's what your goal is. Looks like the Apex trigger will be a must have.

Maybe its the one you are shooting? Mine has a slighty gritty feeling during the take up and then just hits the wall with no hitches, then it breaks clean, but abruptly. When dry firing the break does disrupt the sights if I'm one handing it.I'm not sure. I've also messed with Springfield, Glock, Sig, H&K, Walther, FN, Ruger, and ISSC and those triggers were great. Some better than others, but nothing like the Shield. Don't get me wrong, I want it to be good out of the box, but it wasn't even close. Is there something in the firing mechanism where unless it's loaded, that it's impeded by something? Both triggers really felt like they were binding on something, then released and then broke a fraction an inch later.
