Scalarworks Leap Mount for Scopes


Yes I know it's too expensive, foolishly expensive, get a Larue, ADM yadda yadda.
Based on the features and specs alone what do we think?
@meketrefe, looks solid, secure?

My line of thinking on this, A Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 on a Bobro QD mount would weigh about the same as a 1-6 Vortex Razor HD-E (lightweight version) in this Scalarworks mount.

Not that I take Aaron's word as gospel, but I put him up there with high regard. He tests his shit mostly from a non bias stance.

He will admit to what companies he has a bias with, and even with that bias if he finds somethng better he will go with the better

Hey now he does give a decent reason for doing so, and well if the mount and optic can hold zero from a drop at that height, well is it a bad combo?

I do however strongly dislike it when people use acronyms. Like this guys "PID" or nutnfancy's "POU". Leave that shit back in the military.

I have not seen these up close but if it was me I would skip this type of mount.
By design, any rings with only one closing point is a bad idea because when you open or close is not a circular shape anymore
so one might put more torque in one area of the tube than another.
For strong and uniform mounts the best design is the always trusted base turret with the other half of the mount on top and
torqued by 4 bolts each ring.

How much innovation do we need for a mount? The answer is none. That is why badger ordnance keep making the rings
the way they make them and the elite snipers and marksman keep buying them.

So beware of the snake oil salesmen. They are everywhere now.

...some simple schematics to explain why any sort of cantilever in a scope ring or mount is a bad idea.
I would say, it would be a bad idea for any sort of precision lens mounting for that matter.
hopefully some of the members who work with precision optics manufacturing here in town will chime in as well.

They do an amazing product. It is simple but very good alloys and precise machining that is why. Les Baer also uses them in their best rigs. As you
might know they do not look anything fancy but their lowers and uppers are tight, all lapped and put together so they produce sub-moa consistently.
Their geissele choice is no accident.

Yep. The tops of the rings are not interchangeable or reversible. They are serial numbered with the same number on the bottom half's.

btw... sorry, I was talking about the triggers but the same goes for any machining they do.
you will be hardpressed to find any burrs or machining marks in anything they cut even if you
use a magnifying glass.

Wait. Just the mount is $400? Wow, that's a crap ton. I'd love to get a single mou t setup for my belt gun. That's about half the cost of the gun and glass though.
