Not for warranty work. I had warranty work done on a Henry rifle a few years ago and it was shipped back to my house. Although getting UPS to ship it out was a pain in the ass (I had to pay outbound shipping). I had a copy of their shipping policies from their website and they still hemmed and hawwed. They didn't want to put "Henry Repeating Rifle" in the 'TO' field and we finally compromised on 'Henry Repeating R'.

I had to send back a Ruger Mini-14 a few years back. Fed Ex took it no problem but I had to drive it to a distribution facility. It had to come through an FFL because they couldn't fix it and sent me a brand new rifle (go Ruger btw). I know you can't ship pistols via USPS but perhaps it's good for Fed Ex or UPS.

A recent gun store experience I had, and this is why I hate fanboys. I think my purchases have shown now that I am not one. I prefer Walther, but I cut them down when needed too.

Went to look at my new 92FS Inox. Guy behind the counter was "yeah, but it sucks for CCW." I'm just rolling my eyes, with my Sig P238 tucked in my pocket.

Then I mentioned the Sig drop thing. He pulls the "Yeah? Well don't drop your gun! Simple as that!"

This equates to: Don't buy a fire extinguisher, just don't light your house on fire. Don't CCW, just avoid bad situations. Don't buy a safe car, avoid accidents...

I think the Sig thing is WAY overblown, but this is a legitimate issue that needs more than the "Meh, whatever" response that Sig gave.

I think it's serious though. The only gun I carry is a 26 and if it became uncovered that it'll fire if dropped, I'd fix it and if it couldn't be fixed, I'd get rid of it.

My wife picks it up from the night table to dust off the table and God forbid she dropped it and something happened to her....

It's more serious than they makes it out to be. I've never dropped a gun but I could depending on the circumstances.

My thing is, with the G26, I DID drop it on hard concrete exactly as in this test and from a height. Got out of the hot tub, forgot it was under the towel, and it dropped. If that would have went off, I'd probably be dead.
