As far as Iv'e been told it's just at the clerks office. I will also bring up the incident as a minor. I also doubt that they will find any information about it. I don't remember much about it since it was so long ago but I do remember being told that it would be destroyed when I turned 18 (could have been a lie) but who knows. It wasn't like it was a felony or anything that crazy. I had several phone conversations with the lady who is in charge of Suffolk county records and she assured me there was nothing to find. She is a very nice lady and she knew it was for a pistol permit inquiry. You also have to remember it was back in 1980 so it was a pretty long time ago at this point.
Just be straight forward. You'll be fine.
It's not a records search as much as a character thing I think (just my two cents). It doesn't mean it's right and I agree with it, that's just my impression on why they do it.
