Thanks BD. It was judge Rooney but he didn't seem to have much to do with it. It seemed to be the DA that wanted me to appear. The judge just asked what the outcome was and when I said dismissed he said okay I will sign it right now. Don't know the DA's name but he was a young guy.
I think I found a p365xl that I am going to pay for tomorrow and then bring the receipt with me for the thumb print and photo. Also looking for a vp9 but so far nothing local.

Thanks. I sort of knew they wouldn't find anything but it was a judgment call just incase. In hindsight I should have kept my mouth shut.

Just a quick add. While I was there one guy had a lawyer with him so I asked her for a business card. I always see threads from people looking for a 2A attorney so I have her info for anyone around this area.

Congratulations and thanks for the update. Was hopeful all would work out for you and it did. And as far as the other unnamed person who @Edwardteach72 mentioned, he hasn't been around in over a month. I guess being proven wrong on multiple occasions could have been a bit too much.

The outcome was favorable. Coming clean didn't cause a denial. Not coming clean there's no way to know beforehand that the background check didn't turn up your incident from 35 years prior and could have resulted in a denial.
What I'm getting at is, please don't make the recommendation to the next guy in your situation to withhold that info. It might not turn out the same way.

Congrats! As said by a few others you did the right thing by being truthful!
As for a new gun may I suggest you look to get yourself a 22 pistol, Who knows how long this ammo and reloading shortage is going to last, and when 9mm and such is available prices are nuts! I think the only time I shot a center fire round this year was to sight in a new red-dot on my PC9. Been shooting steel with my S&W M&P 22, which now 3/4 of the folks I shoot with are also breaking out their 22 pistols and rifles and a lot of them reload.

Congrats on getting cleared.Just a word about what the DA told you, he lied.I worked in criminal court for 30 years.The record was sealed.No record of any arrest dissapears entirely,even if an arrest is DP'ed (declined prosecution) before it hits court.It just cant be viewed without a court order.If the DA said yes we saw xyz you would have had a strong lawsuit.If you were ever arrested and the question is "Have you ever been arrested" even if you think it "went away" it didnt, you must answer yes.If the question is have you ever been convicted you can answer no, if in fact, you werent convicted.Well that was silly. I was in the courtroom for about five min. The district attorney asked me to tell him the story about what I told the investigator at the interview. I told him what I could remember from 35 years ago and the judge said okay and signed the permit. The best part was when I asked the da if they found any info and he said nope just what you told us. So if I never said anything I would have had the permit two months ago. Oh well live and learn but at least now I have my pistol permit.
