Here is something to consider:
Barrels have a life. It's the amount of rounds the barrel can shoot with reasonable accuracy.
.223 button rifled barrels will crap out at about 3,000 rounds give or take 1,000.
.223 barrels with cut rifling will shoot accurately longer, about 5,000. Give or take 1,000. Their decline will be at slower rate, but it will be a decline.
Shooting rapid fire without allowing the barrel to cool off between shots will shorten barrel life even further considerably.
For many calibers these numbers are even lower.
Nothing is wrong with blasting away as long as people understand what it does to a rifle and are willing to make the sacrifice.
