So proud of my bird dog

Last Wednesday I took Einstein to North Ponds Park in Webster for a little R&R (retrieval & relaxation) exercise. And I lost a glove. One of my good gloves. Anyway, we took him back to the park to see if *I* could find it. So we have a "Hyper dog tennis ball slingshot", I shot the tennis ball about 200-300 feet and on the way back Einstein stopped and tracked way off course. I was yelling "back, come on, back" he started sniffing around about 100 feet away, next thing we know he picks something up WITH THE TENNIS BALL and brings back my glove and the ball. The big guy found it all on his own about 50' off his course.....so proud. He got a BUNCH of treats for doing that all on his own, Good boy.

Einstein is a good boy. We are working on "casting". Thats when he goes out for a retrieval he didn't see fall. It involves directing him to the target bird with whistle and hand commands......so far Im not doing to good at getting him to figure out what I want him to do. But he's getting there. He's only 2½. we have plenty of time and winter is long.

Labs are the best dogs. My brother had a chocolate lab named Wyatt. I used to get him all revved up by chanting "happy lab, happy lab, happy lab!" over and over.

@Jmac00 awesome .. how are they on tracking deer ? have you tried ?? .. on face book i'm in the ny hunt group and omg the calls for help to find a deer this year ..

he's strictly a bird dog. I don't want him tracking deer. He LOVES the water and lives to retrieve and he loves getting a running start and jumping off the dock into the lake
