I’m going to copy and paste my other post into this section and hopefully get this matter as much attention as it deserves by as many people as it should. Hopefully the firearm community will do the right thing...
Today I made sure I left a comment regarding the new proposed stance made by the ATF regarding pistol braces. Everyone else should make sure they do as well. Click the attached link and scroll down to “Submit a comment”. Too many people like to complain, whine, and spend hours fighting online regarding firearm restrictions (which I agree are ridiculous to begin with) but are too lazy to spend a few minutes to type a quick well thought out comment that could possibly help stop the ATF implementing additional unconstitutional restrictions on our rights. Do your part and spend literally a few minutes to make your voice heard. Not my quote, but still a good one nonetheless...
“If you don’t care for incoming “brace ban” because “I don’t use braces”, then you are part of the problem. One day they will take something what you “use”, but then probably you will have nothing left to fight for…
I don’t care if you are Democrat or Republican or Independent - we as gun owners, we have to stay United and work together to preserve 2A rights. There is nothing left to “compromise”. People before us were compromising since early 1900 and look where we are today…Both parties screwing gun owners and both parties politicians must be watched and hold accountable for their actions.” Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached “Stabilizing Braces” | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
I really wanted the HE515GT but I haven’t seen it in stock forever, so I got the HS515CM also. I will also be running it in manual mode. I’m not a fan of the solar auto brightness.View attachment 118532
I've only been looking for a 515 for over a fricken' year now! Got it for $330 on Midway. I'd have preferred the non solar version but these days you can't be that picky. I've disabled the solar function anyway.
It seems too dim on auto and I think having the brightness adjusting up and down would be distracting.I really wanted the HE515GT but I haven’t seen it in stock forever, so I got the HS515CM also. I will also be running it in manual mode. I’m not a fan of the solar auto brightness.
My main concern with auto-brightness being controlled by the solar panel is you’re not going to get the brightness level you want/need all the time. If you’re currently standing in a relatively well shaded area but are aiming out towards a well lit area, your optic is going to automatically dim very low thinking you are attempting to take shots in a dark/shaded area. Your reticle is now completely washed out and unusable...especially if you’re in a well shaded area and your superimposing the reticle over something that is very well lit and lightly colored (a white target, bright hay field...) You won’t even be able to tell if the reticle is on at all.It seems too dim on auto and I think having the brightness adjusting up and down would be distracting.
I belive those are based off the 40X series of Holosun sights which is fine those are very good red dots. The 515 series is a ruggedized model family with a more robust construction. With the 515 and 530 Holosun has entered the hallowed "why get anything else?" status. I'll allow that for $120 it's kinda tough to go wrong with the Romeo 5.FWIW the Romeo 5 is still made by Holosun. You give up the 32 MOA circle (only 2 MOA dot) but can be had for about $120. I've got 2 and so far never had any problems.
How much did you pick that 1851 navy up for? What didn't I get today... My club had a flea market today. I think I bought almost as much as I sold.
- Black powder revolver
- Lee hand primer with collet set
- Hole micrometer
- Inside micrometer
- Burris Fastfire red dot
- Drill press vise
- Cast metal eagle
- A pocket watch
- and last but not least, a pick-ax.
