Which is weird how he describes the Rein (a light that has between 1,300 and 1,400 lumens and 55,000 - 60,000 candela depending on if you get the micro or full size respectfully)

As of about 20 years ago I decided that that will be the Only slug I will hunt with. So far it as Never let me down!

Just checked that light out. Big and bulky. The mount they use would cause it to stick way out away from the barrel.

Run time is “industry leading” but they don’t say how long. Lol. Ok.

Use a CR123- warranty void. Lol.

Imagine thinking brighter is better. Why stop at 1700 lumens? Why not get something that’s 10,000?

This bird has no tactical experience other than some. ”class” where he ran around with a flashlight once. No real world experience.

For a shotgun there is simply no need for it. Your range is not there. Using a light brighter than 500 lumens would only ruin your vision in a dark building.

The REIN is one of the most duty-grade weapon mounted lights out there (only possibly beat by the Cloud Defensive OWL) that outperforms most other lights. The only other company that makes comparable lights is Modlite as of now and that’s only in the light output side, not the durability or included features.

Back on May 7th, 2021 I left a comment #147 in the “What do you look for in a flashlight for a carbine?” Thread. It’s a decently well thought out comment regarding the REIN. In fact, probably go back through the whole thing and read it. I know I’ve put some quality information in there on a few occasions. As for its size, yes the head is slightly larger than the standard Modlite/Arisaka/Surefire offerings, but it’s not unwieldy, cumbersome, or do I ever feel it gets in the way. The head is also extremely durable and can be used as an impact tool if needed, where it stands VERY high likelihood of withstanding it and not breaking. It’s made of S7 tool steel and the glass itself has been used as a hammer.

If you find the REIN as too bulky, I’m unsure what you would do with a MAWL, light, and a suppressor on the end of a rail. With your argument regarding the mounts, the REIN shares the standard SureFire Scout pattern. So you have a plethora of aftermarket mounts to choose from that you can easily tuck that light tight to the rail if you wanted to. You must not have took the time to read all the bullet points, Cloud Defensive absolutely advertises the run times right on each one of their lights, go back and take a look.

No you can’t use CR123’s cause they can’t handle the output of the higher output lights…same as Modlite (besides their one dual fuel head). They run the risk of literally exploding because they aren’t fit for that application, plain and simple. Any quality light that has the ability to run both 18650/18350 and CR123’s, the output numbers are always higher with the higher draw 18650/18350. I use lights every single day at work. Day, evening, and night, all the time…output matters in all times of day.

As for a bird with no tactical experience, I have some real world experience. I’m a full time police officer and I do a decent amount training. I’m honestly curious…what exactly is it that you do? I’m not asking specifically what agency, company, business you work for but, What is your job title? There’s nothing more annoying than someone claiming to be some high speed fucking Tier 1 operator but then when someone asks them what they do, they can’t say. People are worried about saying what their job is but I know dudes that aren’t in Law Enforcement that are more tactically sound than a bunch of people I know that are on the job. It’s 100% fine to not be a police officer and still have sweet duty gear and have good training, but if you’re not a police officer…don’t pretend to be one. It’s in poor taste and disrespectful as I’m sure you would agree if you are a police officer and you would tell others the same.

I also know numerous guys with a shit ton of more experience than I have that previously kicked doors in for a living and one’s that still are that run REIN’s on their setups. 500 lumens and 7,600 candela ain’t gonna cut it. Surefire is so far behind in the times, they’re practically still using the same technology from 15-20 years ago. Though they’ve been in the business so long that they’ve built a great name for themselves for once being the industry leaders, they are far from it now.

I know for a fact that @Edwardteach72 isn’t trying to convince someone to buy something so he feels better about himself. He does the same shit I do…try and convince people to buy better gear when they are able to. I also get that not everyone’s budget is the same and I agree that everyone works with what they are able to afford. But most of the time it’s not so much the “I can’t afford that” as it is people not understanding why they should get something nicer in the first place. I like seeing people running good shit and if I can help someone make a better decision of their setups I’m all for it, that’s it. Someone throws a fucking Olight on something, all it shows me is they probably don’t care about their own well-being enough to try and put something that is nicer on a weapon that they might at one point have to defend themselves or others with.

Here’s my REIN micro on my AK. It’s far from sticking out and in fact is probably tucked tighter than most people’s M300 setups. Also notice the cable management, there’s practically zero exposed cable to be snagged on anything.

To me that’s kind of a cop-out to the situation. Instead of having a conversation regarding it, you’re like “I’m taking my ball and going home”. All of your gear should have a purpose why it is where it is and you should know the reasoning. To me it just goes to show the amount of effort that you take into selecting your gear. I’m all for having a healthy debate over gear, and hell…I’ve been wrong plenty of times. When that happens I’m glad I’m wrong, so I can learn and grow to be better and think about situations differently. I read your comment in its totality and attempted to have a point for each one that you made. It would take a few minutes at most to read that comment. If you’re happy with your purchase, cool, but there are better options out there. There’s guys that have far more extensive experience regarding lighting than you and I combined that would also tend to agree on the points I had made. Do with the information as you will.

Hey, I still have a couple Surefire 9Z I use back from Gunsite. Granted, they now have Malkoff heads in them, but old school look nonetheless. I know, I know. Kilt in the streetz

ETA: took the warhorse from 105 lumens (IIRC) to around 1000. And no clue on candelas. I think the 9z came before candelas were invented.

A tail cap that I'd both clicky tailcap and has a lead for a pressure switch (both run independently of eachother so if one dies you can still use the other to manipulate the light) If you wanted the same functionality from surefire you'd have to drop $100+ on a DS00 tailcap (so this is a $100 value alone)

A mount, but you can later if you want grab any scout style mount to fit your needs

A pressure switch with both momentary and constant on functions and takes up extremely limited rail space.

You get battery and even the charger for the battery (18650 or 18350 depending on full size or micro)

Complete package is $369.00 take the 100 off so now you are at $269.00 which may not sound like a budget but when you factor everything you get in that plus the quality and durability of the light alone it's well worth it

@S&W Fan one thing forgot to mention (Will can explain it better) the CD Rein has a tensioning tailcap to make sure that the leads are always in contact with the battery.

This would actually be very useful in something with as much recoil as a 12g to help prevent flickering or loss of contact

I don't think I ever posted this lil gem. This past Spring, the wife said she wanted some new trails cut on the deer hunting property. I said, in that case, we need a new tractor. To my surprise, she agreed.

Bought new in May of this year. John Deere 3025E, 25 hp diesel. When we went to look at them, the wife said this is all we need, and she was right. 300E front end loader, IMatch (quick hitch, if you don't get that you're nuts). Ballast box, and Frontier 48" brush hog. 60" finish mower on radar for next purchase.

Poor ole Mule can't compete with power steering, 4WD, Hydro trans with Hi/Lo range, 3 point hitch and standard 540 RPM PTO.

Also, 7.5 gallon fuel tank. I have put 7 hours of work on her, in the woods, and used a 1/4 tank of fuel. You can't beat that with a stick.

This is a Colt 1860 Army in .44 cal. Colt made only 1200 of these in stainless steel. It is in excellent condition. Can't wait to give it a go!!!
