Well, in looking at their offerings, it looks like I want to avoid the SPR mount, but the regular and extended mounts are both 4.75in in length, and weigh in at a nice 3.27oz.
Brands mean little. There is a number of OEMs that make them for many brands. There are some brand names with good ones mostly overpriced.Well, in looking at their offerings, it looks like I want to avoid the SPR mount, but the regular and extended mounts are both 4.75in in length, and weigh in at a nice 3.27oz.

Stay away from the ones with horizontal screws and thin wishbone like base and cantilever like aero precission, la rue and some of the other light and weak designs.
Instead tipical 4 or 6 vertical screws rings binded on a mount or not.
Find out the measures first.
Is the 3-9 scope large and/or heavy?
Yeah, a bit. It's a basic Bushnell offering.
Sat (laid) down and dragged over the sandbag a bit since that's what I would use to support myself, sighted up. Seems the two scopes sit basically the same. Laid down, closed my eyes, drew down on the wall ahead, sighed and looked ahead into the scope. Nearly perfect sight picture. Pulled it back ever so slightly, and it was g2g.
I suspect it is too high.View attachment 61214
Bench is a mess. I actually set it on top of the other rings even though they're not the same size. Made it easier to hold. Looks goofy af, but it "fits" when I hold it, whether I'm prone or standing
None taken, I also know it's the position that fits best when I am wearing the Razor cans. I don't crunch my head down on the gun. The side of my jawbone is on the top/side of the stock, I have it extended to the point that is comfortable for my arms and I've never changed it from there.
I'd have someone take a picture, but I don't know how much that will help
Robin,This is very interesting to me because I am in the market for a scope and of course something to mount it with. Being left handed I grew up adjusting to a right hand world in virtually everything. Even today I don't give things much thought beyond adapting to the situation. Ideally, for the average size guy, what kind of eye relief do you seek when deciding to mount a scope in an AR? do these cantilevered rings afford more leeway in adjusting for eye relief? Seems the length of the tube would have to be considered too in allowing for and aft adjustment of the scope itself. Maybe i'm over complicating it but would like to achieve the ideal setup that fit me personally and using a scope is relatively new to me. I am thinking of a hunting rifle that would be used mostly for recreation at the target range.

If your only issue with that set-up is interference with your ear muffs, why not try different hearing protection?View attachment 61355 View attachment 61356 View attachment 61357
Got the mount in the mail today to test the setup, and it looks good. Lower is definitely better, but this is a hair too low. Without cans, I can crunch down on it, but I can't with them on. I think it feels about a half inch shy and a small riser would probably fix this. Currently, this is 1.5"
The position forward/back feels good, I think a cantilever mount is gonna be the way to go there, based on where a 2 piece mount would sit. I don't want it on the handguard rail, so I feel this setup is the best for me.
I'm open to suggestions about how I can set it up better though.

I've had too-high scope mounts before and its frustrating to have your head bobbing and weaving trying to get and hold a sight picture. A firm cheek weld is quick and repeatable.
