Shiving USAID is the best thing Trump has done yet.

Ran across USAID people a lot in the 10 years I was in Kenya, often in very strange places, like smaller towns outside Nairobi, or even in the bush.

One guy was the father of my Son's best friend - seemed to be a "nice guy".

He had a distinct "spook" vibe though, added to by being fluent in Hindi, Kiswahili and others.

It was "common knowledge" among long term ex-pats in Africa that USAID was running interference for the CIA if not, indeed, running "black ops". You might socialize with USAID folk, but never trusted them.

Maybe the demise of USAID will give developing nations time to actually "develop" without interference, although there are USAID counterparts from many governments. The Brits have maintained a presence in Kenya even to this day - some of them are SAS or some of the "MI" family.

Not sure how successful this will be. Trump is the head of the executive branch - all of it. If he orders one part of the executive branch to review another I don't see how he can be prevented. I'm sure the low level judicial lackeys will do their masters bidding but I can't see it surviving. Of course it will take time and stall progress but my guess is trump has a legal response ready to go for this. We'll see.
