Stay away from the Osbourne 940-1 though, pretty as it is apparently Benchmade has a dificult time grinding the extremely hard S90V steel and the blade geometry gets jacked up as a result.

PM2 is an awesome knife, very ergonomic. The DLC coating they use is indestructible. If you do a lot of slicing it dosen't get much better than that knife. It would make a fair defensive knife too, as far as a folder can be.I have been eyeing the Spyderco ParaMilitary. I will look at the other suggestions. I rarely use the knife at work so I'm not too worried about how scary it looks deployed. As long as its just a clipped folder I will be able to get away with it.
The parked split arrow clip is where its at for use on the Osbourne. Matches the lines well. I don't like Benchmade's deep carry clip.I finally purchased the 940-2 a couple weeks ago and, so far, it's great! If I'm not at work, it is clipped to my pocket. At work, it rides nicely in the front pocket of dress pants. Benchmade is sending a free deep carry clip.

I was thinking the same thing. Almost went with the original 940 but went with the G!0 version for that reason. I also like the spacers and flow through design. The G10 scales will wear much better than the aluminum ones of the standard 940. Mine are all shiny on the edges and corners.
The green on black is quite sharp indeed.I was thinking the same thing. Almost went with the original 940 but went with the G!0 version for that reason. I also like the spacers and flow through design.
The answer to that is entirley subjective. It absolutely can be. The axis lock mechanism is the best lock in the business, the Spydeco's compression lock isbthe second best in the biz. The PM2's broad, full flat ground blade and fine, sharp tip is better at slicing and piercing, and its handle and plethora of choils make it super comfortable in a wide variety of grips. The Benchmade's slender profile allows it to sit in the pocket like its not even there, your hand will glide past it effortlessly when retrieving other items. Both have outstanding quality, fit and finish, design and attention to detail. I wouldn't let the price difference be a factor, they are both on equal terms but bring different things to the table. I never say this because I think its pedantic but in this case if you buy one, you'll probably get the other. Which would you like to own first?Ok is the Osbourne 940-2 worth the $50 more than the Paramilitary?
ZTs are top of line production knives. But one needs to accept that they are pocket jewelry. Many of their models sacrifice a little function for extra zazz, frequently in the form of excessive weight.I've been eyeing up the ZT blades also. I haven't seen anything there that was enough to make me pull the trigger either. I have found some high end ones I love but I would never pay that much for a knife.
You won't regret it. Until you start wondering what might of been with the Osbourne, but you will rectify that in time as well.Great information. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a paramilitary.
I bet you a Coke that you will have an Osbourne within six months of getting a Para.I doubt it, between the new house and the massive gun and ammo list it's going to be a long time before I pony up for a new knife after this. I'm still bummed that the poured in gun safe got scratched because of price.
I would take that bet if it was a beer. Look when this thread was started and I'm just getting back to it.I bet you a Coke that you will have an Osbourne within six months of getting a Para.
Do you wanna big one, medium one or a small one? That would be the Military, Para Military 2, and the Para Military 3 respectively. The Military uses the standard Walker liner lock while the two Paras use the similar yet much superior compression lock. The standard run models use S30V steel. The use of any other steels represent sprint runs. I think the PM2 represents the best balance of features, and is in fact only slightly smaller that the Military. My personal PM2 is a digicam scales with the black DLC finished blade. Unlike many other coated blades the DLC finish on these knives is extremely durable and resistent. I've had mine for years, heavily used, and the finish shows no appreciable signs of wear. A satin blade with the desert tan scales also looks very sharp I think. The Para has been on my list for a while. Not sure on which specific Para as, last I looked, they offered a variety of steels. Any thoughts?
Of course you don't need a Benchmade. However if you appreciate knives they are a nice thing to have.Fack, i thought i finally convinced myself i don't need to spend all that money on a benchmade and you guys go and rez this thread for me to read through.
I'm hesitant to buy a new knife, lost my last one that i really liked. That was a fox karambit, holy shit a karambit is useful. currently i typically have a swiss ranger with a half serated blade, plus one other knife on me. that swiss is my favorite, partly cause i bought it in Switzerland. I love a good knife. I've been taking a serious look at the spyderco military in the past. I'm a 4 inch knife guy.Of course you don't need a Benchmade. However if you appreciate knives they are a nice thing to have.
I definitely want the Para Military. It is/was more of a question of the 2 or 3. At this point I kind of feel partial to the size of the Para 2. Thanks for the update on the DLC finish. I may consider that version now that I know it wears well.Do you wanna big one, medium one or a small one? That would be the Military, Para Military 2, and the Para Military 3 respectively. I like the para in both bare steel and coated is there a reason why one would go with one or the other or is it just looks?
Cool knife but I don't recommend it if you're look for something strong. It has only the partial liners, I'll see if I can get a pic. Here's another one that caught my eye.
Benchmade Pardue Drop Point AXIS Lock Knife G-10 (3.25" Satin) 531 - Blade HQ
See That's the stuff I have no clue about! How are liking that rift?Cool knife but I don't recommend it if you're look for something strong. It has only the partial liners, I'll see if I can get a pic.
The Rift is a very stout knife, one of my favorites.See That's the stuff I have no clue about! How are liking that rift?
