Well you could argue it is more accurate...
In combat, especially in a dark jungle, accuracy is not as important as number of bullets put down.
At moving or hidden targets, burst fire works better.
It almost acts like a buckshot, multiple bullets in a small area very quickly.
If what he says is true, why didnt the military convert to semi auto after Vietnam?
Because auto and select fire is a far superior platform in the varying situations seen in combat.
