Well that came and went with a whimper. I just bought an M&P Shield 22 Compact for $249 at PSA for target practice and plinking. I can’t see $400 for a Glock 22lr. I’m saving for a 43x instead

Dang. This just made my ISSC M22 useless.
We all knew it wouldn't be exciting, it a Glock afterall. But now that I think about it suprising they haven't had a .22 in the lineup sooner. Now is Glock actually making these themselves or are they slapping the Glock name on an Umarex pistol?

I was like, meh at first but then I watched this video. I don't think I've had any of my 22lr pistols except my TX22 display this kind of reliability. If it had the Glock 48 dimensions, I would have one.

Despite there being much better options for .22 pistols, they will sell a lot I'm sure. Whenever I ask people who are getting or just got their permit what their first pistol will be, the response is always "uhhhh probably a glock?" Glock definitely has that household name selling power. I mean, it IS the gun of choice of both cops and gangstas.
Personally I'm gonna stick with my Mark IV.

Absolutely. I always recommend having a person start with a 22 to learn the fundamentals, Grip, Sight, Breathing, safely manipulating the fire arm ,Once they are skilled and practiced with no recoil they keep these skills as they move up to a higher caliber With the higher caliber recoil its harder to learn these skills because of the recoil and noise.The problem is most folks want to purchase the most popular gun the gun store sales man try and sell them . And most folks know on there own when they are ready to transition to a higher caliber ,
Glock is trying to take market share back by getting into the 22 caliber Game. Doubt it will have as big of an impact as they think it will. Why buy a G44 and be stuck with a 22 when you can buy a Glock 17 and get a conversion kit for the 22 and have options?

Glock does two things well. They make reliable pistol and have created a cult following to sell, sell, sell. Not that that is a bad thing. A company should do those things. They just exceed really well at it. Oh they seem to completely stay out of politics too. I actually respect them for it. Companies should stay out of politics unless it directly effects their business so maybe it’s time glock. Glock wo t though because they have too many police contracts.

The sig mosquito had major reliability issues. I considered one and the reviews were horrid.
I bought the SR-22 and it’s meh. I then bought the browning buck mark and haven’t shot it much yet. It functions though. I have to dial in the sights.
I have never even shot a Glock, so I really have no opinion on them either way! So as some have said they are a little late to the party! What I do have is a S&W M&P 40/9 and a M&P Shield in 9mm. Early last year I bought a SIRT pistol ( model 107 ) that is a M&P clone and then the M&P 22 full size, all 3 feel the same in my hand and all 3 fit the same holsters! Now Black Friday I bought a M&P 22 compact feels just like the Shield in my hand and also fits the same holsters as my Shield and S&W 6906! These are plus'es.
If I can get more trigger time then that is not a bad thing! I can mix it up go hot with the 9mm first then cool down with the 22, or visa versa. Also now working with someone else with their mechanics, much easier with a 22 and cheaper when a lot of rounds are needed.
Also now that my Club is going to start having USPSA shoots/matches and Steel Challenge matches there is a rimfire division. So now I can shoot 2 divisions while wearing the same holster.
Plus 22's are just plain fun to shoot!

Looks ok... I suppose if you are a big Glock fan and want a new .22 this might be the gun for you.
I have an SR22 that will do most of what the glock 44 does I imagine.
The model 44 is a bit lighter than the ruger SR 22..
I respect Glock, they are legendary in their reliability,and the fierce loyalty of Glock owners/user/carriers is well known.. As far as innovative??.. meh, not really. Their original concept many years ago, was innovative in the extreme, and made the company the legend it is, but these days?.. not so much..
Ruger to me right now is the most innovative arms manufacturer
Everything they build is solid sales gold, because they are building guns that people want..
We have been discussing the new Ruger LCPII chambered in .22 LR on another thread..
Tiny, pocket size .22 with 10+1 capacity, and supposedly very light to rack.
Ruger ruggedness,easy for older folks and women to operate and shoot.. They will probably sell a lot more of those than Glock sells with their model 44.

Knowing Glock, you can probably run 1500 rounds of dirty crap .22 LR downrange, never clean it once, and never have so much as FTF or stovepipe... They make good stuff, but need to shake things up a bit in their design dept... bob
