Hmm looks like you guys already covered it pretty good for what you can get without a script. I will eco the TQ comments don’t get cheap crap. Yea you can get a deal on Amazon or elsewhere for something that looks good but they will likely fail. I carry the CAT at work in the gear, on my belt and have some at home. Chest seals, compression bandages, quick clot and roll gauze. But most importantly learn how to use it. And practice putting a TQ on yourself (hint this is what a cheapo TQ is good for) chest seals can be made and keep in mind the vents on commercial seal can get clogged. Take a stop the bleed class (every gunclub and VFD should hold them) they are basic but show proper wound packing and TQ applications.

North American Rescue is a good source for supply.

It would depend but if I was making a kit for an individual to wear or keep in a pack it would have 2 TQs , 2 chest seals, 2 Olaes or other compression bandages , two rolls of quick clot, roll gauze, trauma shears to quickly remove clothing, one of the small folded up type reflective survival blankets and a few 5x9s. On a larger kit I would include oral and nasal airways, some larger gauze pads and a manual means to suction an airway. Remember protecting the airway and stopping massive hemorrhage are key.

If you don't know what you need I would really suggest getting some training. You can have all the gear money can buy but if you don't know how to use it it will be useless.

Even gave me a professional discount which was his idea, not mine. Highly recommend them. Also recommended I look for a Stop The Bleed course near me which I will take when one becomes available. Wound up with this kit in the combat gauze version coyote (Less expensive than multicam) M-FAK Mini First Aid Kit, an additional tourniquet C-A-T Elastic TQ Holders and sheers (larger size) NAR Trauma Shears.

Is vest color strictly personal preference or is there a particular reason why someone would want one color over the other? For example, black over ranger green or coyote.

I mostly have coyote brown stuff. I figured since we live here it's brown at least 4-6 months a year and it can still blend into a wooded environment it's a decent color for our climate/environment.

I really wish ranger green was more widely available. That's really growing on me. I think that will be the next color I start to buy.

I still also like good ol' woodland and multicam. Also nice choices. Can't go wrong there.
