As this is presumably not being worn every day, I would look at
LA Police Gear Level 4 (IV) Ballistic Armor Rifle Plate
Looking for the most comfortable and high-performing ballistic armor rifle plate capable of taking multiple .308 rounds? Order our level 4 IV body armor plate!lapolicegear.com
Others can likely recommend a carrier.
I've ordered a few and tested one to see how it held up. As described.

If you are thinking about plates don't forgrt to think about the med kit.
I'm telling you guys. It's more about selling more armor in the future. There are a ton of these videos but check these out. From Safe Life Defense web site.
Can I wear expired armor?
Expired body armor should be replaced, but wearing something is better than nothing. It has been proven that body armor doesmaintain some of its ballistic properties long after the standard 5-year lifespan. However, there are no guarantees and no official testing for expired armor. You should expect to wear expired armor at your own risk. If your armor is expired, and you cannot afford something new, keep on wearing it. It can still save your life.
I'm no expert, just started researching this stuff when the blm BS started up. But at this point in the game whatever you can find in stock that fits your needs. Lots of info on YTWhich plate carrier would you recommend from them?

A little frustrated on this topic. My carrier has been delayed a lot..... now February. Good new is the plates should be inbound in the next couple weeks.
I placed the order 2 months ago with the ETA mid October. If I knew it would have been 6 months I would have spent the extra $50 and bought it from ebay and had it that same week.I don't blame you for being frustrated.

US Patriot. I spent some money and bought Crye JPC 2.0.
Gdmf'ing touch screen again. Corrected . . . Time for a new kindle/ipad/chromebook/somethingoranother
Can't say I'm worried so to speak. I have been weight training most of my life and do about 4-6 hours of biking a week to keep me in good condition. I also have nothing to compare things to since armor is new to me. Just figured if I can save a pound or so why not if the cost doesn't go up demonstratively in doing so. Really leaning towards the one I posted about above. Any reason not to? RTS Tactical Body Armor Level IV Ceramic Active Shooter Kit@Dr. Evil if you are worried about weight check out Hesco

Is vest color strictly personal preference or is there a particular reason why someone would want one color over the other? For example, black over ranger green or coyote.
