The Senate still needs 2/3's vote to impeach. There might be some Repubs who flip on Trump, but I don't think they'll get 2/3's vote to oust him. Those who flip will be jeopardizing their own reelection come November.

As I understand it, each witness has to be approved by 51 members of the Senate. If a few Republicans turn on the President and side with House members, Pres. Trump is about to get screwed.

Even if they don't get to a 2/3 majority to impeach, 3-7 Republican votes to unequivocally impeach Trump will be seen as enough to tarnish his agenda and second term, and the Demrats are promising more articles of impeachment.

Thet may not end up getting the votes to impeach, or use their votes even on a failed attempt at impeachment to push Trump to resign, but they will use it to neuter him.

They did it to Bush Jr. for 8 years it was very effective.

They want Trump gone, but they (Demrats and at least some of the Rs) will be perfectly happy to continue hampering and stalling his agenda until they can get another Demrat in the oval office.

These people don't stop just because they lose one vote. They then shift to the next contingency plan and deploy troops to up the counter attacks. They are completely relentless and despicably ruthless and traitorous.

This impeachment circus has become more of a ritual than real proceedings. In reality it will never be possible to get 2/3 of the senators needed for the removal. It's unlikely either of the parties will hold 2/3 of the Senate seats. This is just another opportunity for both parties to blow smoke up our ass and compensate for doing nothing they promised to do to their base. I just laugh at these ass-clowns, especially democrats.
