It’s basically the same language and legal basis for the southern states seceding from the union starting with South Carolina. A breach of contract basically between state and federal government.
That's why I'm so fascinated by this approach. It has similarities to 1860. The south started following a very similar legal route to just stop following the federal government.
The south no longer wanted to participate in the political process, presidential candidates were taken off ballots, there was major political disenfranchisement, the country was reaching the point in a marriage of irreconcilable differences. Sound familiar? It's rather telling that even Hollyweird has caught on and has already filmed and is releasing a new "fictional" civil war movie.
Everything old is new again?
