Yup.The WW2 eastern front analogies are eerily similar to what it was in 1943 and 1944.

"What then is this ‘Great Surprise’ – the almost completely unforeseen event of recent geo-politics that has so shaken U.S. expectations, and which takes the world to the precipice?
It is, in a word, Resilience.
The Resilience displayed by the Russian economy after the West had committed the entire weight of its financial resources to crushing Russia. The West bore down on Russia in every conceivable way – via financial, cultural and psychological war – and with real military war as the follow-through.
Yet, Russia has survived, and survived relatively handsomely. It is doing ‘okay’ – maybe better, even, than many Russia insiders were expecting. The ‘Anglo’ Intelligence services however, had assured EU leaders not to worry; it’s ‘slam dunk’; Putin cannot possibly survive. Rapid financial and political collapse, they promised, was certain under the tsunami of western sanctions."
'Anglo' intelligence services = congenital, compulsive and pathological liars.

The Soviet Union survived that long without the west.Russia survived from 1945 to 1990 without the west. It may not be easy , but they know how to do it.
Your splitting hairs. Russia was the center and power of the soviet union. After the fall of the USSR , Europe never allowed Russia to join in any of its raindeer games. She was excluded from Europe , an outcast. Instead of embracing her as a friend they used Russia as an enemy they didnt allow her into the EU. Russia was shunned. Russia never really had to depend on the West. She is doing fine even after the harshest econmic sanctions that have ever been used against her. the fact that Russia is still viable is testament to the fact that she doesnt need the west , In fact Putin said he is done with them . No more trade . so its a mutual breakup .The Soviet Union survived that long without the west.
It was a lot larger than Russia.
And it did ultimately collapse from within.
seems somebody is.Is Israel bombing Iran?
We are nowhere near the harshest sanctions. We're practically in kid glove territory.Your splitting hairs. Russia was the center and power of the soviet union. Also, the USSR included a lot of countries that are no longer aligned with Russia. The loss of Ukraine alone is a major blow to Russia's economic self sufficiency.
I am sure they can *survive* on their own, but the cost will be very high, and it will eventually cripple them to where they can no longer threaten their neighbors.
If the EU and NATO wanted to get serious, they would cut *all* trade with Russia, *and* any country that does trade with them.
They wouldn't last 5 years under that kind of pressure.
If China and India, etc... were forced to choose between trade with Russia, and trade with Europe and the US and Canada, any guess which they'd pick?
I dont understand this push to get US and German armor into Ukraine. Crew training aside, who is going to fix them, let alone do basic maintenance? Where are their spare parts stores? Do they have cannon ammunition and how are they going to get it to the battlefield? Will they come with a coax and TC MG? What about parts and ammo for those? When the battery goes dead do they even have a NATO slave cable that can be adapted to their junk? There is zero support for some of the biggest maintenance intensive machines in the battlefield.
The US has thousands of Abrams parked on the pavement because we build new ones whether we want them or not.I guess they dont have to worry about that stuff for a while.
WASHINGTON — Ukraine must wait months to receive the 31 M1 Abrams tanks promised by the US because the Pentagon does not have enough of the critical vehicles in its own stockpile to send now, spokeswoman Sabrina Singh confirmed Thursday.
While the White House has said Ukrainians need the more advanced capabilities to gear up for a fresh Russian offensive expected this spring, the US tanks won’t roll into eastern Europe until the predicted push is a distant memory.
“We just don’t have these tanks available in excess in our US stocks, which is why it is going to take months to transfer these M1A2 Abrams to Ukraine,” Singh said, referencing the specific newer version of the tank the US will send.
White House officials warned Wednesday it could take up to a year before Kyiv receives the tanks that President Biden publicly pledged because they would be purchased new with Congressionally approved funds as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
On Jan. 19, Singh had said, “it just doesn’t make sense to provide [M1s] to the Ukrainians at this moment” when asked about the prospective package. The spokesperson pointed at the time to the US tank’s logistical challenges, as its gas turbine engine requires jet fuel — unlike the diesel engine used by the Leopard and Challenger.

US doesn’t have enough tanks to send Ukraine, Pentagon admits
The US announcement came the same day German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed his government would send Ukraine 14 Leopard 2 battle tanks.nypost.com
I'm sure the Taliban, and through them the Chinese and Russians, would disagree.we do not want to let anyone else get their hands on them.
This article, this bit of news makes no sense at all. I say, it is filled with lies. I have a good friend at Fort Riley Kansas that says he and his team have been working on tanks and has already shipped some that are destined for Europe. he was told by his bosses that these particular tanks are the ones heading to the Ukraine. They updated pieces and parts, did all of the needed maintenance on the tanks and all have fresh paint applied.
More lies, from somewhere are being told.
