Yeah , but that seems sooo unlikely. It seems so amateurish that its hard to believe. like forgetting to bring bullets.
There had to have been check lists , that many officers had to sign off on . xxx amount of fuel per unit per day Checked, double checked triple checked right up the chain of command , sombody would have noticed that no one brought fuel . Its hard to fathom .

Or maybe they were ordered to hold position as there are (secret?) talks going on. Maybe it’s plain simple logistical fuckupery and logistics failed to plan correctly for how much fuel or ammo required. Maybe the convoy is holding position as a distraction while something else is being set in motion. Hard to tell.

Pretty sure there are protocols for these launches to avoid that sort of thing. Protocols that include telling the Russians about the test ahead of time and the planned course.
Also, there's no reason for "launch on warning" for anything other than a massive strike. if we *were* going to execute a first strike, even a handful of missiles launched wouldn't make a difference.
I doubt there would be any danger.

Ukranians should spike the fuel in the stations along the way in case the Russians decide they need to steal some ?
Maybe they did, and now the Russians have a 40km convoy with bricks for engines ?

It could be an unknown reason. Its really difficult to believe they failed logistically. Its like forgetting to bring food. There are check off lists they have to go through . Launching an attack with no fuel is like launching an airstrike with no missiles. This is not an easily overlooked mistake. It could be like Spat said, that the diesel was spiked . it could be a mutiny, secret talks, I dont know. But I do know, you dont leave an army sitting on the road for 3 days in the same place without doing anything during an offensive. Something is off here , and I dont believe it could be mass stupidly. An EMP attack is something Im just throwing out there as a possible reason.

I'm sure their equipment is EMP hardened, our is. Hell, my '84 CUCV is.
I think it's a combination of planning fuckery and waiting till troops in other areas are closer. They probably aren't too concerned about Ukraine taking them out as they're a bit preoccupied other places. Not like Ukraine has any A10s. Shit, one A10 and 10 minutes and that whole convoy would be a burning scrap pile.

The Ukrainian airforce isn't exactly a force to be reckoned with. Even if they had the A-10s I doubt they would be able to keep them in the air against the Russians.

I thought this was a cool headline, but they must have a very punitive tax code if the government found it necessary to call this out. I could see our government telling us if we help repel foreign invaders, they will only prosecute us if we survive the conflict.

If they said 5000 KIA I would believe it.
They've had far too many losses for those numbers to be realistic.
I also think the Ukrainian side is "under reporting" but not as badly. They're getting hit pretty hard.
No joke. I was off yesterday and was watching the news. Something that I heard really caught my attention and my BS meter went up.
There was a press conference at the Pentagon and the department of defense guy was asked "what more could the US do to help support Ukraine" and he babbled for a minute then said (and I'm paraphrasing) the US could donate A10s to Ukraine under some obscure rule and there are some Ukrainian pilots who are trained to fly them.
Just how in the hell is that? The US is the only country in the world to operate A10 and it takes months to be certified and proficient on an specific type of airframe.
No joke. I'm not making that up. That was the line of questioning and the direct response from the DoD spokesman

To be honest I think your waning attention in this thread is indication of your true thoughts on this momentous fuck up by putin. His progress in the past week has been remarkable:
1) Shown that the russian military is more inept than most had ever dreamed
2) Helped create more NATO solidarity than we've had in a generation, including pushing even historically neutral nations like switzlerland into taking a position
3) Watched as Russia's economy has been kicked in the face and the beatings will continue

This war will not go on much longer. One Ukrainian city, Kherson, has fallen and other cities are being surrounded. Mariupol is under heavy seige. An amphibious force is near Odesa.
Anyone being misguided into going to Ukraine to fight against Russia is going to get killed.

Wonder why they are out of fuel? They seem to have enough oil as they are still selling it around the world right. I wouldn't be surprised if the Russian quartermaster's have been selling it to all the local gas stations in Russia and Belarus before they invaded.
