Good point. Maybe we should be emailing him asking him to get crackin' on the judicial appointments. Get as many 2A judges in place as possible, since you never know what could happen with this presidency.

Astorino has no power, he can't force judges to issue permits, and he can't change the NY Law, Trump is useless he can't make law he can only sign it through. He's more concerned with changeing the tax code so renting living space makes more sense then buying it. Wonder who that will benefit real-estate and builders, do we know anyone one who use it run that sort of business? This preseident will do nothing just like the rest of them.

I'm no Fudd. I don't even like any guns with wood or manual operation for the record. I know the President cannot do anything. He isn't a King. All he can do is sign bills brought to his desk and appoint conservative judges. That's it.
I'm not wasting my time on a pointless email. That doesn't make me a Fudd or defeatist. Only a realist. Only a Circuit Court or SCOTUS can change state law by declaring something unconstitutional.
This email is about as useful as posting in the political picture thread or the random thought of the day thread.

State Senators and Assembly members don't waste a second of their day reading e-mails from their constituents. Ask them, they'll admit it.
Staffers scan through them and take rough number counts of who is for and who is against and if the numbers are deemed "substantial" they pass that info on. If not, they discard it altogether.
Want to REALLY get your point across, call or revive the lost art of the hand written, postage stamp attached letter.
Bulk e-mails, Astorino "what ifs", online polls....all a tremendous waste of time. They don't pay a seconds worth of attention to these types of efforts because it takes less than 5 minutes to "bitch and complain" via e-mail and in all honesty, legislators have no idea nor do they care to invest the time to check if the e-mail is from a registered voter in their district.
If telling some of you the truth as to how your legislators view these lazy and ineffective efforts to gain support for pro-gun causes makes me a FUDD, then the next 25 dollar check you write to the NRA, NYSRPA, SCOPE, or RINO reelection campaign fund makes you nothing more than a hypothetical JOHN in the prostitute service purchasing field.
Some of you need to ACTUALLY work a few campaigns doing something other than passing out lawn signs and get a glimpse of how your representatives REALLY think about you and your causes.

Not everyone that acts on these mailings feels the need to report in. I try to do everything, large and small. It does have an effect, sometimes infinitesimal, but it does have an effect. The alternative is to do nothing and that will get you exactly that, nothing. In fact, without the NRA fifty years ago, this forum wouldn't be here, there would be no need because most here would not possess a gun, let alone handle one. So sit on your hands and do nothing, fine, just don't bitch to me about it, shut the fuck up and live with the results, quietly.

You get bent at me for telling you the truth about how these lazy half assed efforts turn out ? How about you shift that anger to where it belongs. Like the pro gun organizations that take your money and give you nothing in return, or the politicians who lie to you about amending or revoking the Safe Act but continue to fund it in every State budget or your fellow gun owners who couldn't be bothered to go to the polls for Astorino assuring another Cuomo term.
Phone calls are a method of PERSONAL communication where you actually speak to someone vs a bulk email that takes 30 seconds to.process and is as impersonal as it gets . That's the difference.
Several posts back I posted that if the 7 local and State wide campaigns I've worked on, each canadate placed almost zero.weight on bulk email communications. The ones they paid the most attention to were phone calls and hand written letters . Reason being is that they took effort to create and they can be verified as to the person living in their district and being a registered voter.
Simple as that...

I would Never advocate just sending emails.you are correct, That alone is worthless. I also write letters, make phone calls and get involved in as many grassroots efforts as I can make time for . I also try and meet with my representatives a of couple times a year at least to let them know I'm paying attention and to ask what they have done about certain issues that are important to me.
I have been doing this as much as I can since little andy's daddy was gouvernor.
If we are going to even have a chance at changing things in this state Everybody needs to get on board with doing the same thing.

Fair enough @Chuck D, fair enough. I got heated at your response and that was uncalled for, I apologize. I'm still confused about why you seem to think people here haven't already tried your methods? I've certainly called my share of politicians to no affect, I've written as well, and no matter I always get the canned response. Does calling add a personal touch? Sure it does. A personal touch to them still ignoring you. Please forgive my cynicism but you mention the truth and the truth is, that the truth is the truth is the truth. which is to say, unless you have money, they don't care. Doesn't matter what medium you use to reach out to them. For the record, the message I sent concerning this thread, wasn't rehashed bulk email. I wrote the message myself.
