Trouble at Home for Magnus

So it's the middle of the night my family and I were sound asleep in our new apartment. One of our alarms starts to go off (uninvited guest). Big Daddy Magnus grabs his 1911 and runs down to the WAR CLOSET entrance. As soon as he cracks the door open he sees BG-4 who has slipped on Little Magnus' toy. Big Daddy assumes this is the only person in here at the moment and definitely knows BG-4 does not belong here. BG-4 is shot twice in the stomach and collapses. The other BG's are in frantic panic to get their buddy out alive and start positioning themselves to open fire on Magnus. Mrs. Magnus with revolver in hand has secured herself in the far room with Little Magnus. What's the game plan? Stay and fight or Flee?

Lots of factors to consider in this hypothetical will dictate next steps.
Are you on the ground floor or higher? Since there's aback yard exit I'll assume ground floor.
What is season/weather? Don't want to send family out into snow or freezing temps for undetermined length of time.
How quickly can 5-0 show up?

Not knowing what is outside could be dangerous to Mrs and little Magnus. They could run right into another BG so I'd have them hunker down in front room and call 911 about home invasion and shots fired.

If Magnus has not already gotten a shotgun or rifle from war closet and can get it in less than 60 seconds get one then fall back to little Magnus bedroom/war closet doorway. This way you're no longer at location where engaged BG4 in event other BGs blind fire at you. Also creates a pinch point by if they come through war closet. Also they can't get behind you.

Wait for police to arrive and engage anything else that comes through living room to closet.

If police response time is significant then consider going through front window and bug out.

Sure there's plenty I've overlooked.

Assuming BG 1-3 are going to grab BG 4 to evacuate him means you have an entry team in your house. Unless you have bullet resistant walls you are in trouble. BG 1-3 are going to shoot right through your drywall and take out the threat or at least incapacitate you so they can continue their mission. Magnus needs to grab the AR 308 or M14 and those 20 round mags that you stashed after the SAFE act and return fire until BG1-3 are dead or prepare for BG 5-10 to come storming back into the house.

You've already decided to act... It's harder to retreat and disengage than to maintain pressure and go forward. Defensive attitude put's you at risk, when you have the advantage, you don't relinquish it. I hope in this hypothetical scenario you grabbed reloads as well and not just your gun. But if you weren't going to fight, you should've not engaged at all. Just my opinion...

You start something, you need to finish it until the threat is removed. By disengaging, you leave a hostile threat which could prove unpredictable, ie, they could retreat and get greater firepower and return. If you press forward, this removes that element and forces them to fight/flight... You have the advantage, your turf, your right to defense...

Execute (assess)...

You already planned.
You prepared.
It happened, you execute your prepared plan...

Like any good plan, usually things change the split second it goes into effect, so... The reassessment at each turn.

You could certainly disengage, but was it part of your plan? What are you prepared to do if you retreat further into your home and are pursued?

Arrrrrgh! Is why I hate these hypothetical scenarios... There's a million options and there's nothing to say any one of them is either right or wrong, the correct choice is usually identified in the aftermath with the results of the choices then known. Always easy to MMQB!

Once they take cover behind walls and appliances and return fire, that slow moving 800 fps .45 ACP will not penetrate the barrier they are shooting from.

He's gut shot not completely incapacitated. Need to acquire additional firepower and ensure that he isn't a further threat.

Also need to keep low, dry wall isn't bulletproof, and even if the remaining BGs are heading for the hills they may send some parting shots your way. How well trained are Mrs and Jr, are they getting low and getting distance, or are they being stupid ?

Grab your favorite CQB device and body armor from the war closet, pass additional equipment to Mrs and Jr. If police response is short, secure a good position to defend that doorway. If not, press the advantage (surely the attackers are surprised by the sudden loss of their colleague)

Load a belt into the ma-deuce and cover the doorway

Further retreat is not advisable, seems the war closet is the best place to make a stand with another room behind for the others to remain concealed from the attackers.

If Mrs and Jr are well trained, you will be at a significant advantage, in a minimum they should know enough to keep their heads down and how to put on the body armor you toss them, as well as operate the long arms you supply..

That's BS. You can adjust your arms accordingly in tight spaces. And let's not forget that if an intruder is holding a loved one hostage or is right next to a loved one, you cannot take the shot with the shotgun unless you are using slugs in which case a rifle or pistol would be better.

every video I have seen about home invasions have resulted in the BG fleeing upon first contact. You have the element of surprise and BG-4 is down, BG 1-3 are now in panic mode and only want to get away.

Press your advantage, The Misses has your back and is protecting the little one. Move forward, being careful not to shoot to far to your left and into your neighbor's home. BG 1-3 should already be abandoning their "friend" and be headed out the door.

Move to BG-4, remove his weapon (if he has one) make a quick check to assess his condition, at the same time check the kitchen office to clear those rooms.

If no more BG's are in the home, retreat to the wife and kids....wait for help.

If the Mrs. and Jr are secured and armed in the bedroom they are to stay put. You dont want a potential hostage situation if they were to meet BG's 1-3 in the hallway. Mrs gets the po-po on the phone while Mangus holds his position, reloads his side arm, and acquires a primary weapon from the long gun locker. If time barricade closet door to make entry harder, just in case BG 1-3 decide they want to continue the fight.
edit: Primary threat has been stopped so unless this is outside the great state of NY taking offensive action towards BG 1-3 may open Mangus to legal problems

I'm not sure I would check the assailant for anything, or try to "remove" his weapon... If weapon is in hand, he's still and threat, there will be no discussion, the only thing he will receive from me is more of what I already gave! I'm not going to get too close and get knifed or overpowered!

And for the record with multiple BG's I'm not going to worry an awful lot about his condition at all. Just make sure the threat is no longer a threat. If and when cleared of threats, I would still maintain ground and still not retreat to the family, kids, unless absolutely necessary. In other words, I won't remove myself from the field, until relieved (by LE). I'm the buffer to protect my family, if I retreat, I've no longer have control of ground I've gained, as mentioned, they could return... Yes, most unlikely, but still an unknown element of their intentions. I will call for ambulatory assistance if I feel I can... That's about it.

ummmm, no, sorry. There's something misaligned in your thought pattern there. In your home, and you've already engaged in a violent deadly confrontation, their only option is to leave and quickly! If they stop attacking is does not constitute that the threat has ended.

Biggest problem will occur with there being more than one side to the story, ie, they thought it was a friends house and they only kicked the door in to use the bathroom. Or hey, they thought this was where the choir practice was being held... Fuckers who are in the system are very imaginative to provide viable excuses for their actions that'll skirt the legal envelope...

Anyways, just my thoughts...
