Truck/Car Gun

Not to include your everyday carry handgun; does anyone drive around on a regular basis with a different gun in their vehicle? Something like a shotgun or an AR?

If so, how do you mount it or stow it? I have been looking at some carriers for my Jeep.

I don't ride around with a shotgun/ rifle. But if I did, I would consider a vehicle safe...

So what exactly is NYS law on having rifle/shotgun in the car?
I've travel to the range with rifle unloaded in a case and loaded mags in a pocket of that case. Am I doing it right? Or wrong?

I thought there was also something about it being illegal here in New Yorkistan to have any ammo loaded into mags. Anybody know about that being the case or not?

I backed into a guys' trailer once trying to shine my headlights into this car that was stalking the rest stop. He moved his truck, distracted me and the creepy stalker got away...

I think he was sitting in the drivers seat. Stupid Maine State police made me sit there eight hours for no log book. The rest stop was so remote, I half expected to see a damned bigfoot! The guy in that car was up to no good, when the guy in the truck heard that, he was all good.

I didn't know it was illegal, if it is. I've never had any issues with a long gun in my truck in full view of LEO's, as long as they were unloaded. And most of the time they were in a window rack. Usually with the shells in my pocket.

thats why i run an ar pistol with a 14.5 inch barrel. aimpoint micro, shock wave blade stabilizing brace (adjusted all the way out).....

in america i have twin 30s on board in a redi-mag.

I'm glad you started this thread as I've been researching this topic and I was going to start the same thread myself. The problem for me is that I work in New York City, so I know that legally I can transport a gun through the city, but I don't know how it would go over if it was ever found that I was maintaining a gun in my vehicle while I was at work all day.

It's not concealed. That is illegal. Perhaps it won't be enforced, but it is illegal.

If it's in your car, it needs to be concealed? Is it considered open carry just because it's not in your clothes?

In PA its legal, but I don't think its a super good idea. There are some young, nervous rookie cops out there, unlike the seasoned veterans we have here
