This is nearly identical to my prediction. I predicted, back in February, Trump wins with 347. I think the 362 is pushing it.

I'm listening to the phone in comments on C-Span. Either only right-wingers call in to C-Span or Trump is going to win in a landslide. I don't think they've had one negative call so far, even from the independents and democrats.

Gotta remember, even if somehow, someway DJT does get the NY popular vote, he still won't garner the NY electoral vote. They will still go with anyone but Trump on the electoral side of it. For that reason Trump can't win NY.

If he gets the NY popular vote, he gets New York. There is no electoral college at the state level. All states go by popular vote if I’m not mistaken.

That doesn't make sense. The electoral college is ONLY at the state level, and ONLY for the presidential election. When else would the electoral college come into play?

If he won the popular vote in a state but lost it's electoral votes and that changed the outcome of the election, there would be a civil war.
You. would have 2 groups both claiming to be the legitimate government, and only one can be.

The popular vote is basically a 'feel good' vote for the American people. The electoral college are the ones who actually elect our president.

I’m not sure if we are on the same page. If Trump for argument’s sake wins the popular vote in NY, all NY electoral votes go to him.
There is no electoral vote in the state level meaning that Orange County gets 12 votes, Erie County gets 8 votes, NYC gets 25 votes, ect. In NY and all states for that matter, each state has their own popular vote. So their are 50 popular vote elections in this country ( one for each state). The popular vote of each state garners a certain number of electoral votes for each state.

But faithless electors (the term for an elector who votes for a presidential candidate other than the one they are pledged to) have never changed the outcome of an election.
If they did it would be chaos.
At the state level, you are voting for an elector who has pledged to vote for a particular presidential candidate. If that elector doesn't vote the way he has pledged, it is a fundamental betrayal of the electoral process. So far it has never affected the outcome of an election, so people have let it slide.

We've also never seen such civil unrest towards a president as we've seen towards Trump. A faithless elector in this upcoming presidential election is a definite concern of mine. No different than seeing videos of police, mail carriers, etc defile Trump campaign signs. Those actions were virtually unheard of prior to 2016.

That's the way it's supposed to transpire. However, as @spat has already stated, a faithless elector could sway the vote. I don't implicitly trust the electoral college voting. It was a bit nerve wracking in 2016. This year it could get downright fugly.
