So, yesterday i was working up some loads and had my rifle on its bi-pod, thankfully on a low table. the bi-pod must have come loose in the last session, because when i walked away it folded underneath and rolled off the table. it fell from about 3 feet high, landed on a rug, but hit hard enough that it ripped the sunshade off the scope, which was threaded on. this rifle is about 15 pounds all told.
I was able to thread the shade back on, and there are no dents or visible damage. Its a vortex HD AMG mounted on a Remington 700 300 WM with a Sphur mount. so its a pretty tough scope and mount. I was going to go out and shoot today and evaluate it, but with the rain i'm not sure i will get the opportunity.
What are the odds i broke it or damaged it somehow? thoughts? Lost zero at a minimum? If so, should i loosen the rings and re-align it? I'm pissed off as this is pretty new, maybe 50 rounds thru it, and i'm usually pretty careful. I've never dropped a rifle before now, so i have no idea what to expect.
