I understand that. How would you even know what the situation is? But why even grab it (the shotgun) then if you don't know the threat? Unless of course you grab it along with your rifle at the same time but that isn't realistic. And even if you did, are you going to transition from shotgun to rifle or 1911. That's ridiculous. It takes time when you only have split seconds.

Good. I'm glad you finally came to your senses. There can be no doubt: shotguns rule for one or two targets under 50 yards.

There are so many different scenarios in a home invasion.
There are guns that are better than others in certain situations.
Also, there are different levels of capability with the operator.
In a dark hallway, just being woke up, adrenaline spiking.....some may prefer buck shot.
Your wife in a headlock.......a pinpoint accurate rifle or pistol.
4 guys in your dark livingroom moving and running......again, buck shot is a good choice.
One dumbass standing still in your kitchen......50 Beowulf might be called for.

In my home the choices are M4, 870, moss 500, G20, 357, 45, 9mm, 45 colt or 30 cal rifles of various models.......or 22LR.
Nobody sneaks in my house, I will have a few seconds.
The plan has been, me with the G20 and M4.....
GF probably under the bed with her dog.
We live far enough in the woods that anyone coming in the house unannounced is a bad guy.......or my buddy Jason......either way, ill be ready.


PS.......my alarm system will let me know if the intruder is a bad guy or a stupid friend who drinks too much.

My shot gun is loaded with one in. My M1A has two loaded mags next to it, (unfortunately 10rders next to the neutered muzzle), And my M1 has 3loaded clips with one in the breach and chambered. Pistol? I refuse to openly register.

Under that logic the same would apply to an unchambered Glock. You aren't supposed to warn the intruder. That gives away your position and gives him a chance to get away and possibly come back another time for your treasure he just heard or fire at the area he hears it in if he feels cornered for whatever reason. Drugs induce paranoia.

To each his own. I know it's hard to unlearn these things we've heard over and over. Most of these things are folklore. If it weren't for the internet disproving these myths they would still be fact. Case in point with the .45. The internet proved that not to be the case that folklore said it is.

This whole thread is now way out of context. There was never an argument from me. Just saying different tools for different tasks.
They all can do a good job ..... some better then some in different roles. I'm not one to argue or carry along with it. Just stated some views.
