Coming to this thread late I know, but here's my take.
The Dobbs decision fucked us. I mean REALLY fucked us. Many people who would've otherwise sat this one out came out to vote for abortion rights. The hardcore religious faction of the GOP has been chasing its tale for decades ever since Roe vowing that they would overturn it and garnered votes that way. Well, the dog finally caught its tale and now it doesn't know what to do. Let's be frank, the national GOP has been primarily a single issue party (abortion) for decades now. They sure as shit haven't done all that much for the Second Amendment.
Most people regardless of race, class, etc. want abortion to be legal. Like it or not that is the reality. The fact that every sate, including red states, where abortion access has been on the ballot has seen access restrictions firmly voted down. It's a losing issue especially with the young and women.
The GOP isn't doing itself any favors either. Look at the in-fighting over the House Speakership. My county is a microcosm of that where we had a GOP majority but the in-fighting was out of control. Well at the last election almost every Republican county legislator is out and there's a Democrat supermajority. How's that going to work out now. Already here them talking about raising taxes to cover pet projects.
The public at large sees this and sees a party that can't govern. I have a friend who worked briefly for the RNC. All he did was send out mass emails to people asking for money. He quit after a few months he was so frustrated by it. That's what the GOP is these days. A money raising machine that doesn't even have its key issue (abortion) to get donations for anymore. The Right would rather fight with each other over who is the most ideologically pure and this is where it gets us up and down the ballot.
For the record, I won reelection for another term as Town Justice. One of the few Republicans that seemed to keep their job this past election day.
When I try to have conservations with the County Committee about outreach and involving youth it all falls on death ears. My same friend who worked for the RNC started a Young Republicans Club in the county. Do you think the County Committee would be happy? Nope. Absolutely zero shits were given. And they still pat themselves on the back for their website that looks like it was last updated in 1998. What a joke. That's all they need to do as far as they're concerned.
It's time for the good old boys to go. Let someone under the age of 65 take some responsibility and maybe we'll start winning elections again. I'm a firm believer that the Gen Y (oh which I am one) and Gen Z would be receptive to conservative values and politics if they were met at least partway and given a chance to be involved. But from where I sit that ain't going to happen anytime soon.
