If this goes into effect, they'd have you by the balls If you ever wanted to purchase a firearm. You wouldn't be able to purchase one without the card.

All the teeth grinding aside....we haven't seen or heard anything about this from Albany. I'd hold off getting all worked up about it until we do. With that said...if we get a FOID card system, 99.5% of the people dead set against having one will get one. If for no other reason than convenience.

For all we know...this could be another marketing ploy from the Tresmonds. Remember them and their empty promises ?

The Tresmond's show up on NYG. Going to your local SCOPE chapter is always a good thing. I try to attend my local chapter as often as possible. While I was listening to rumors at the last one it was said that the Tresmond's and Tom King are in cahoots together along with the current executive board of SCOPE to bring the demise of SCOPE as we currently know it. just sayin!

Max and Jim brought up a lot of stuff years ago that never came to fruition.......I don't have a lot of respect for people who build hope and then disappear...They could of at the least made a statement they were wrong and are dropping attempts to repeal the safe act. I could understand that.

Not my primary point. What I am saying is if your concerned about the future your too late preparing.

You can purchase a long gun in any state and walk out the door with it as long as it's legal to possess in NY.

Or you can buy anything your little heart desires on the black market. The question remains who is going to be willing to add the additional costs in time, money, and effort to buy a long gun out of State when most of us are looking for the best deal and have forgone supporting our LGS to save 25 bucks on a purchase.

Again...FOID card compliance will be driven by convenience UNLESS the cost and acquisition of the card is excessive.

Like I stated in another thread just look at the number of Republicans in the NYS Senate or running for the Senate that have F's next to their names when it comes to being Pro Gun/Pro 2nd Amendment. I don't think anyone on our side is compromising for that. We have no say in the matter.

The state is compromising on that since a background check is unobtainable.

Max and Jim Tresmond were attending. They indicate there is a credible rumor circulating around Albany that NY is about to boned as soon as next January with a FOID card that will be inclusive of long guns and ammunition purchases.

This is all speculation of course but if FOID works like it does in other states, you have no choice but to comply if you want to buy a firearm unless you change your address to out of state and buy there but once you do so, there goes your pistol permit and ability to legally buy a handgun and bring it back here.

Uh, if you buy a home in another state and spend time there as a second residence (read vacation home) you are able to obtain an ID card. This, according to the ATF, is deemed as dual residency and allows you to purchase a firearm in that state. Now, transferring that firearm back to your home state you would have to follow all the regulations of that state. In the case of NYS, that means FFL to FFL shipping and another BGC, and the usual pistol permit office trip. Just saying . . .

If this is actually coming .. what is SCOPE doing .. ??? what was mentioned at the meeting about doing anything .. ?? Even thou we don't have Republican in office with a damn spine anymore. maybe 1 or 2 with some kind of spine .. No. It's just a state said I'm good to go card. It has nothing to do with NICS. That's Federal.
